Diamonds, Booze, and a Cruise MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 48 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 71 and rain this afternoon. A good day to just be in the office I reckon.

LiLi glad to know you’re gettin’ needed rest even if it’s in the horsepistol. Just think, if a bunch of us Mumpers were closeby, we could take turns smugglin’ food in. Continued prayers and good thoughts headed your way from South Jawja!

Yay for the new wheelz MOOOOOOM! I hate those dealer stickers too. Don’t forget the ice cream while you’re at the store. Matter of fact that should be at the top of your list. Along with tp, of course.

Hope irk is less irksome today gt.

Now I shall seek more caffiene and feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification shall commence.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

This is really beginning to piss me off. Last night I sort of idly noticed that every time that I’d turn over in bed that my ankle (same leg as my lovely knee) would be kind of tender. This morning I wake up and my ankle is now bruised and swollen. Not sure if I should call the doctor again or just wait and see if it goes away.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

: wraps Sticky in bubble wrap : If it hurts, go to the doc.

Go to the doctor, Sticky!

Blurf. And I’ve been at my desk for 2 hours already…

Sticky, I know what you mean about the whole doctor thing. A bazillion years ago, I kept avoiding the doc for “female problems” figuring they’d work themselves out. When I finally went, I ended up needing surgery. So I swore I’d never wait that long again, and a few weeks after when something happened that seemed wrong to me, I rushed right back to see my doc, only to be told “Oh it’s nothing - it’s to be expected after surgery.” Maddening, for sure. On the other hand, better to be safe, right?

That reminds me, I need to call my doc and set up my annual squishin’ plus the 10-year *Probe of Doom <cue terrifying music> * I think there was something else she was going to schedule for me - probably a memory evaluation…

Today’s excitingness (is too a word) is a trek to the grocery store. Fresh things go bad in 2 weeks, so our fridge is looking kinda vacant. Plus I’m down to one can of Diet Coke! Anyway, once I shower and don clothing that’s appropriate to be seen in public, I’ll be off to Leonardtown. Such is the excitingness of retirement.

On the other hand, it’s drizzly today, and still mild. That ain’t gonna last, but I’ll take what I can get. Happy Wednesday and Happy Oneth of February!!!

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day. Make sure you you stock up on sausage today…

I’ve got an appointment in a couple of hours. Fortunately, it’s free* to go there.

*free with purchase of $10,000 per year tuition :stuck_out_tongue:

Home from my grocery expedition - that was fun… Early in the day mid-week, there aren’t a lot of shoppers, so the stores use that time to restock, leaving those of us who do shop to maneuver around the stock carts. Just a minor annoyance, but I gotta whine, right? Got lots of healthy stuff - much fresh veggie matter and some good deals on meats. So after I take a little break, I’ll break out the bag-sealing-thingie and make up a bunch of freezer packs. Then the challenge is to find space in the freezer - I’ll just pull out something for supper tonight and tomorrow. That’ll help a little.

**BBBobbio - my mom sent me 5 rings of Polish sausage, so I’m ready for tomorrow. Just need to find it in the freezer <cue Indiana Jones music> Incidentally, is your employer hiring Aero or Mechanical Engineers? Just askin’…

The sun has been peeking in and out all morning. I did get a few raindrops on my windshield, but not much. It’s sweater weather or less, at least for one more day. I may even open a window or two before the day is done. Why do I feel like this is the calm before the blizzard?

Morning all!

I get to have lunch with mr ems today! Yay! He has an appointment with the cardiologist later today so swopped a day off with someone he works with so he is off today. He is taking my work truck to get the oil changed for me this morning then coming to swop it out with our car at lunch. So I said I would buy him lunch. He is the bestest.

I get to head out on a work trip tomorrow and go visit some suppliers around the DFW area. Then stay overnight have dinner with my boss who is driving up from Houston and the Global Supplier manager and the regional rep of the supplier he manages tomorrow evening then visit their mine on Friday. All of this will be super fun

I love grocery shopping. I can spend 4 hours in there if I really want to. Yes I am weird.

Good luck LiLi - rest up!

Lots of openings for Systems Engineers, and some require Mech/Aero experince, but no outright Mech/Aero positions locally. If you do opt for System Engineering, I will be there to welcome you to Hell with open arms.

Ah - I’ve seen a number of ads for Systems Engineers and I pretty much blew them off. So that’s your company, eh?

**FCD **thinks contractors are going to have a little slump in the coming year - we’ll see if his prognostications are correct. I guess I’m lucky that I don’t *need *to work…

Ah the joys of no health insurance…

If I had insurance he would have sent me for x-rays because there might be a bone broken in my ankle. Since I don’t we’re just going to assume that it’s just the blood draining downward from my knee.

Okey doke…

I took a nap when I got home and now I’m trying to find the motivation to do something productive before I go to school.

:D:D:D:D:D:D
I’m happy. Can y’all tell? Background check came back ok, natch. I have an official job offer. I already had a letter of resignation all readied except for the date so I turned in my two week notice. I got told that if I want to start first thing on a Monday, i.e. February 14th (Valentine’s Day how sweet!) they’d be fine with less than two weeks. Thus, I called soon to be employer to see how that’d shake out and I start then!
:D:D:D:D:D:D

More pay. Better bennies. More holidays. Happy Bear!

:D:D:D:D:D:D

Hooray,** swampy**!

Reported for smilie abuse.

Woohoo! Drinks on the **bear **tonight!! PARTY ON!!! <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>

I have the house open - in February - in Merrylande!!! I love it! I’ve run the new vacuum - it sucks good - who knew there was so much crud in my carpets?? I ran a load of dishes. I’ve loaded the pantry, but I still haven’t packaged stuff for the freezer. I’m thinking the chicken I bought today will be in the rotisserie tomorrow.

Now, I just need my sweetie to bring home his W2 and I can get that chore done.

Tonight, tuna steak, fresh cauliflower, a salad, and I’m not sure what else… sounds yummy, tho.

Haven’t had time to read but wanted to update…

Finally found out - that call from the mortgage company a few weeks ago was real. It really is our company and they really do want to lower or interest rate, let us skip a payment, and do it all with no fees or appraisals. Sweetie and I are finally together during business hours so I was finally able to order him to call them. He’s finding out the info right now and it’s sounding like it might be good.

Holy crap! If I’m getting the message correct from his scribbled note, they are lowering it by 2.25%!

update as soon as he’s off the phone. He hasn’t said no thanks or anything yet so I think it’s good.

Ok, here are the details:

They want to lower our interest rate by 1.25% (I keep thinking our rate is 6.25 but it’s not).

They are basically giving us a new 30 year mortgage with a fixed 4% interest rate. Since we’d be basically refinancing, we’d be skipping a month payment while they do the paperwork (so basically $1400 extra for the month for us, which we really need). They are restarting the loan at 30 years but it’s not a huge problem because we’ve only paid 2 years so far. Two years in the grand scheme of things isn’t bad. We get to stay with the same company, pay no fees/points, no refinance - none of that garbage we went through the first time.
We have to wait for the paperwork to come so we can see the fine print and all that but it’s nice to finally know what the hell they wanted and that it might actually might be a good thing for us.
