Did anyone catch the return of Everwood?

Last night was the first Everwood we’ve had in a while…doesn’t seem to be much of a following for it here, but it’s pretty much the only show my wife and I watch together (what can I say, she doesn’t like BSG, Stargate, or shows about lawyers and cops, and her only other show, ER, is a personal escape for her, so I don’t watch it with her).

I was actually surprised with Andy telling Hot Neighbor Lady that she had to follow her heart instead of something utterly selfish like “Ditch the bastard!” when she asked about advice for what to do about Jake.

It was also comical for Hannah to be all “No meddling” in the first of the 2 hour episodes, but revert right back to it in the second episode. If they had spaced that out over a week, it might not have been so noticeable, but it was pretty silly when shown in back to back episodes.
I disliked thoe whole Planned Parenthood thing, it felt much too in-your-face political to me, and the whole “OMG, I can’t beleive your mom bought you a Mercury Milan!” just screamed “awkward product placement.” Parto f me hopes that they do let the show die after this season, just because the recurring theme (someone’s an asshole/ignoramus/selfish dipshit and makes up for it later) is getting kind of old. It doesn’t help when it’s a patently obvious faux pas, but the character is somehow oblivious.

I did. What the hell is with the WB showing commericals for the wrong episodes lately? They showed the commerical for next week’s episode all this past week, and they’ve done this several times this season with their various shows. I hope it’s not a trend that catches on with all the networks. I think I would have liked the episodes better were I not anticipating what the commercials seemed to indicate would happen in them, and didn’t…

I taped it, but started the tape a half-hour too late, so fill me in…I came in when Andy was talking to Harold about how Julia had cheated on him right before she died…some story about some guy bringing her a drink at a party. What happened before that? I haven’t watched the tape yet, but I don’t care about spoilers.

Is anyone other than us three watching this?

Yup. I enjoy it. Absolute waste of time and I don’t feel at all guilty.

My favorite character is Hannah. You might recall that 3 months ago when the show was last on she and Dim (I really can’t call him Bright cause he’s such a moron  ) were climbing into the shower together. It’s been interesting to see her antisex attitude weaken as she’s exposed to temptation.

Laughed like hell at her line to Amy after she explained that she and Dim showered together but no sex occured. “But we’re r-e-a-l clean now!”.

Seems to me someone is going to get pregant this year. Ties in with the Planned Parenthood placement and AMy noticing that her father was the Dr who performs the local abortions for PP.
Scrub-a-dub-dub

That would be interesting, but who? For Hannah, planned parenthood would never be an option she’d consider even if she did give into temptation. I suppose it could be Amy but that would mean it wouldn’t be Ephrams (I would think)

So is no one going to enlighten me as to what happened in the first half-hour?

I don’t remember what happened, but I’m rewatching that far now, just because there’s so few of us who watch it.

It starts off with Erv doing a book signing. Nothing much happens there other than them idiotically giving away the book instead of charging for it, someone complaining about typos, and Andy wants to know if there’s anything about him in the book.

Hannah and Bright get phone calls from Amy and Ephram, both reporting that they slept together (when? I forget) and haven’t spoken since then. Hannah thinks this is good, Bright doesn’t.

Opening Credits

Bright complains to Ephram that they shouldn’t have gotten back together, and Ephram insists he doesn’t know if they’re back together or not.

Andy and Deliah are apparently back from a trip I don’t recall them taking, because Nina welcomes him back then whines a bit about having to kick Dr. Jake out because he’s a druggie, and how it makes her feel guilty because she wasn’t there for him and her son loves him. Weirdly, Andy seems to think she needs to talk to him instead of cutting and running. Makes me think he really doesn’t like to “think of her as a woman” per mentioned ages ago.

Hannah and Amy talk about Ephram, and how Hannah knew they’d get back together because he obviously still loved her. Ephram helps some kid get ready to audition for Juliard, Andy declares Erv’s book to be crap, Andy then demands to know why they’re not in school. The kid says that he worked out a deal to get out of school early, and Ephram says it’s like he did. Andy points out that he’s now in community college.

Amy and her professor chat about why she’s spacy in class - a boy the professor guesses (am I getting too old to appricate teen drama? I’m finding myself deeply not caring about Amy and Ephram this episode). Wise professor-woman gives her some advice and invites her to a party. Weird.

Andy goes and bitches Erv out about the fictional Andy in the book, because the fictional character died alone of a broken heart. Erv points out that Andy is still heart-broken, and has yet to find another woman he can spend a life with. Erv kind of sort of agrees when Andy says that women don’t expect men to commit or something stupid like that.

Amy and Ephram discuss not avoiding each other. Amy claims to be “confused” and needs to work things out. They plan to talk things over in a couple of days.

Deliah’s being a brat because she’s popular. He bitches that she needs other friends, like that nice Emily girl. Andy tells her that he read her e-mail and how he’s disappointed about “operation fat cow.” Deliah flips out and ends up telling him that he lied to Julia all the time, and that Julia hated him for it.

Nina meets with Dr. Jake who says that he’s getting help and leaving town. She says he doesn’t have to leave, he insists that he needs to so he can do things on his own. She doesn’t kiss him good-bye.

Kid’s mom calls Ephram asking if he knows where he is, since he’s been skipping school a lot. He confronts Kid, who says he doesn’t need school cuz he’s gonna be a pro musician. Ephram tells him that he’s being an idiot since he doesn’t even have an interview yet yada yada.

Edna wonders why the hell Harold wants stuff about adoption, Harold comes in reading the book, and Andy says he ought to sue for liabel. Harold follows wondering what’s going on and follows him to his office where they begin talking about Julia’s affair. And then you’re where you started.

All that in the first half-hour? Wow.
