Did anyone else catch Health Cops on Discovery Health last night?

There was nothing on TV last night so I watched Health Cops on Discovery Health Channel last night. Few are the times when I want to throw something at my TV but last night was one of them.

The show centered on four ‘cases’ of people who, seemingly, wanted to lose weight. The first was a young, single man (I’m thinking he was in his late-twenties), the second a couple in their late thirties (although the woman looked like she was pushing fifty), a single woman in her late thirties and a young couple either in their late twenties or early thirties.

Each case is assigned a professional with whom he/she/they work to meet their goals. Almost everyone’s goal was to lose weight and some had goals re: their blood pressure, fitness level, cholesterol, etc. In some cases, the people were even given loaner exercise equipment. Everyone except the last couple worked really hard and showed a lot of progress. I admired their willingness to break bad habits, admit their problems with their weight and do something about it.

However, the last couple, their names were Tiffany and Brad, were the most pathetic people I’ve ever seen in my life. They, especially the wife, really could have used the weight loss. It became apparent, though, that they were unwilling to work to lose the weight. I was appalled when Tiffany asked something along the lines if she was going to have to ‘get up early and do this everyday’ when she was working out with her assigned professional! She had a negative attitude the entire time. The professional assigned to work with them, after several weeks (nine, if I recall correctly) realized they were a lost cause and decided to collect the exercise equipment and be done with them.

When he showed up to do so, they were so rude! The started blaming him for, what amounted to, their laziness! I’ve heard that people like this existed, but I never dreamed they’d be so brazen about their indolence on television! You’d think they’d be appreciative and grateful that they were chosen to receive the services of a professional (actually professionals) for free and use the opportunity to make much needed changes in their lives.

According to the previews for next week’s show, Tiffany and Brad will be back. For what, I have no clue.

Did anyone else happen to catch this show?

They ran these episodes a few weeks ago. I watched them. I agree that Tiffany and Brad were a piece of work. They seemed shocked that there would be effort involved. They tried to blame it on a personality conflict. Whatever.

Same thing with that single guy. What a bum. He wanted to lose weight, etc., but not actually make any sacrifice that would get in the way.

The single guy’s doing better, it seems. He’s lost thirty pounds (his goal was fourty) and he significantly reduced his cholesterol level. He seems (judging from past footage) to have a more positive attitude than before.
