The Company is TNT’s summer “event”. It’s basically a mini-series, airing on three consecutive Sundays.
It stars Batman (Keaton), Robin (O’Donnel), and Doc Ock (Molina) as CIA agents in a post World War II environment. The action jumps around from London to Berlin to Russia to the US. It even gives a major role to Slater from “Dazed and Confused”.
It spends a little time on the principals while they’re in college, and I thought the first two hours – while slow at times – was somewhat intriguing. It had a sort of Le Carre feel to me where guys never really knew where they stood, even within their own organizations.
I’m sure TNT will be replaying it during the week, so set the TiVO if you’re so equipped.
It wasn’t great, but it’s nice to have something to give me a good reason not to watch John from Cincinatti.
I watched a little bit of it – the rooftop chase and the guy talking to the “class” – and liked it. It’s certainly got the right look. I thought I’d stumbled across Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy, except that TTSS didn’t have so much exposition.
Upon seeing ads for the miniseries, I bought the book about 2 weeks ago.
Haven’t had much time to read, and am only about a quarter through the book. But I am really liking the book. It’s compelling without being campy. I don’t know exactly how far they’ll go in the miniseries each “episode,” so I don’t want to watch it right now. I am Tivo-ing the episodes of the miniseries to watch once I have finished the book.
