Your cite is bullshit. I’m from the south. I know how the word is used.
The term does not designate “whiteness,” but economic class. And it’s primarily used BY white peopel.
I think you know how disingenuous it is for you to take such an overly literal interpretation of my words. I’ll make it easier for you – the pharase has never been used by non-whites as a class to degrade caucasians as a class. It has never been used by anybody to degrade all white people as a race. It is not a racist term, no matter how fervently you may wish it to be.
If you agree that it doesn’t refer to all whites, then you agree taht it isn’t racist. The word is not used to denote a race but economic subset of a race and it’s primarily used BY that very same race.
Hardly. I would call it a definitional condition that a given slur must actually be intended to categorically degrade an entire race in order to qualify as “racist.”
Here’s a secret of the Illuminatti… Dennis Hopper and Chris Walken improvised and crafted the greatest testament, dialogue, last words, and satyric moment in cinema history with cryptic Melungeon diadem and reference. I don’t think Tarantino wrote it, as it’s not in the original script for True Romance-
Saw some other report where he expressed his alleged previous belief that he was “cool” enough to use the word nigger without giving offense and how astonished he was to learn that this was not true.
What a dumb fucker. I just have to say that. He thought that he was cool enough to use a racially offensive term without giving offense.
Oh God, I can see it now- it’s going to be the next Celebrity and WannaBe fad. Soon Demi and Ashton will be seeking out a lovely double plot near Kunta Kinte, furious when Madonna steals his bones and inters them next to Phyllis Wheatley in her getaway mausoleum, all while Paris Hilton decides to show her appreciation for African-American suffering by enslaving an entire school of Rwandans just so she can bury them with her, then Tony Danza will be seen scooping out plots near the slaves killed in Madame Lalaurie’s torture palace only to be one upped on the asking price by Bob Saget, and that’s when the fad ends and everybody goes onto the next big thing, which is wearing concrete necklaces to protest the Armenian genocide (relevance of concrete necklaces to which to be determined at a future date).
That’s kinda neat. I usually think of “Paddy” as being used in East Coast cities by Wasps during the turn of the century to insult Irish immigrants. I wonder how it ended up being used by west coast Hispanics in the 60’s to insult white people in general.
Interesting. That must either be very regionalized or very era-specific slang. All of the definitions on urbandictionary.com reference this as an Irish-specific insult. I wonder if there’s anyone from outside of LA who’s heard it used in this way. Or even if it’s still used in this manner in LA now.
Well, gosh, so am I. And I’ve lived here a hack of a lot longer than you did. So I guess that’s trumps, eh? Or, we could respect actual citation over personal anecdotes. Your call.
So, what does blue mean? Opera? And pink? Minnesota football? Orange? Brunswick stew?
It’s a vain request, I know, but is there any way you can cite that other than appealing to “stuff Dio knows?”
So for a term to be racist, it must be used by a class of people to denigrate another class of people? What?
Oh. For it to be racist it must refer to everyone in the group? This is from the** Dio Dictionary** I take it? Got another, independent cite for that?
Who said I agreed to anything?
This is just silly. It is entirely possible to behave in a racist manner against an individual and hold no thought, belief or action against everyone in that individual’s race.
When I first saw the thread title, I thought it meant he was going to pull a David Blaine-like buried-alive stunt. Either that, or he planned to be buried with his slaves, like the old pharoahs of Egypt.
