You should probably mention where you are.
I’m in South Florida, and it’s working fine for me. Of course, we were only slightly affected by Irene.
Website was hanging up on me about an hour ago for streaming video.
FWIW, last Thursday evening I was on the phone with a friend, we were both trying to look up the availability of something and neither of us could connect (I’m in TX, he’s in CO)…it’s worked fine for me the couple times I’ve tried since then.
Been watching it on and off all weekend, here near the Nation’s Capital. No problems. Well, a brief power outage, and my ISP sent me an email asking me to “reset” my modem, which I did. But everything seems the same before and after doing that.

Our university IT department sent out an update yesterday saying that we have two main connections - one heading out to upstate New York and the other going through Boston. Apparently our NY connection had been broken in several places, so all Internet traffic was being routed through Boston, but the speed had dropped due to congestion, because so many other people were doing the same thing. So yes, it’s possible that it could be an Irene effect.
