Localized outages are going to occur. The Xmas Eve outage was widespread and, if I read the PR right, was the fault of Amazon Web Services.
I found this: Up - Netflix status at downrightnow. I haven’t decided if it would be useful or not. For example Netflix streaming was out Christmas eve and this morning. The Netflix.com pages with DVD info such as the DVD queue was out yesterday morning but Downrightnow shows only current and recent situation.
