According to the scriptures, God punished Adam and Eve and their children and all human’s through the ages because they now knew the difference between good and evil. He was said to know all things ahead of time so knew they would disobey him. He also knew that Satan who he created would tempt the humans to except evil. As some one once asked me, “How come Satan is smarter than God?’ I was shocked… I said no God is smarter than Satan, the the reply was,” How come then that God didn’t make good more appealing"? God punished ignorant humans, but seemed to let Satan harm His children, and like with Job he seemed to play games with the human to satisfy Satan. The punishment for sin according to the genesis was death, not eternal suffering of one’s soul!
As a post script I realize all that was ever written, read, thought, or taught, is of human origin, so scripture and any thing written was of human origin, and one believes the Humans who wrote it. There is no proof that God said or wrote anything, or inspired it. That was humans who decided it all, weither it was the Bible, the Koran, or any book of any kind.
Yes I have noted before that the mainstream christian concept of hell is a bit lacking. Some bible verses go against it. Its not the concept the Hebrews had, and Yehushua (Jesus) only alluded to it in a parable where it becomes a bit absurd. I do not think the parable was meant to illustrate hell, but instead remarks on the failure of people to listen when they have the chance.
