Did Kamala Harris work at McDonalds?

More votes than trying to prove something that’s silly and just gives the bullies more airtime.

Your approach is to legitimize the question. My approach is to dismiss the question as irrelevant. Yours gives the bullies airtime. Mine turns the criticism back to what’s important.

And I don’t think it will change the vote count to answer the question. Whereas standing up to the stupid bullies might by showing she’s more interested in points that matter, more interested in helping the American people, more interested in finding solutions to America’s problems than saving face or jumping through silly hoops on demand.

But again, why should she provide proof when Donald Trump hasn’t proven he didn’t illegally make money off his Presidency? I mean, we all know how solid a “blind trust” run by his sons is.

For every vote you think providing some proof will gain, I am convinced at least one will be lost because the people demanding the evidence will just dismiss the evidence as inadequate or a lie. And that would make the issue gain more traction, so now she has to respond again, and then when that doesn’t work, she’s stuck in a downward spiral of jumping through stupid hoops, kinda like I’m doing now.

Trying to provide evidence just makes her look like a chump.

Maybe ‘Sure. I’ll dig up and release any tax records that still exist for me from forty years ago – after Donald Trump releases his tax records from the last ten years.’

Say that once. And then change the subject.

This would be a great way for her to reply. Turn his comments into wins for her.

I presume the point was to get fact-based answers, and not have it be people discussing whether or not proving it was a good idea, or other political squabbling.

There might have been some articles that have been looking into it, or some less official stuff. Maybe someone had come forward. Maybe they hadn’t yet, but they will eventually, and it could be posted in this thread, and the OP would get a notification.

If people don’t have such an answer, they can always just not answer.

I’m reminded of the expression about wrestling with a pig here.

There is no upside to Kamala Harris engaging with this nonsense. If she gave this reply Trump will instantly claim that she has something to hide while simultaneously making stupid noises about his supposed audit being the reason he can’t release his returns (or something else even more inane).

Are you saying that Mayor McCheese is just a figurehead?

Is anyone even still talking about this outside of the Dope? It seems to have pretty much vanished from the news churn.

I mean, obviously. Top ‘elected official’ in an entire ‘land’ is a mayor? I don’t think so!

These are from earlier today.

Sky News Australia: ‘It’s a lie’: Questions raised over whether Kamala Harris worked at McDonald’s

And this is from a few days ago.

But most other news stories I can find are from a week ago or earlier. It’s definitely true that it’s not a big story, but it’s not one that has vanished yet.

Not really, as some of us have repeatedly noted. There’s a few random bits because nothing is ever really allowed to die on the internet.

When nonsense like this doesn’t gain traction, they did exactly what they needed to do - not engage with it so it has no chance to come back.

And yet there are no demands either on the Dope or elsewhere that he prove it. So @filmore’s claim is clearly false.

This is what I’m talking about. This is the pattern:

Harris: I worked at McD’s as a kid
Dems: No one would lie about that. She’s telling the truth

Trump: I worked at Trump Village as a kid
Dems: He’s lying. If he wants us to believe that, he needs to provide proof.

Of course, we can be pretty confident that Trump is lying because he lies about everything. We don’t accept Trump’s claim of a trivial job as truthful without proof, but we do with Harris.

Yes, because one has at least earned the benefit of the doubt.

Dems: Who the fuck cares? Let’s talk about how you’re openly plotting to suspend the constitution if you get elected again.

We can be pretty confident that Trump is lying because he’s told us his work history over and over and over.
Sadly, no one is asking Trump to tell us more about his first job working . . . for his dad and making orders more than minimum wage.

Absolutely. If you’re a Harris supporter, you know she’s telling the truth because you know her. But there is a segment of voters who are uncertain about the candidates. These undecided and independent voters don’t know who is telling the truth and who isn’t. Trump says X, Harris says Y. The undecided voters don’t know who to believe. I don’t understand how we can have undecided voters at this point in time, but they exist and will likely be the votes which tip the election to one candidate or another. We can’t just count on the undecideds just inherently knowing that Harris is truthful and Trump is a liar.

Before Trump, my attitude was that all politicians lie, and getting moralistic about it was pointless.

Now I think that frequent candidate lying can get to be a problem. This isn’t to imply she lied about McDonald’s. But if that was the worst lie she ever told as a candidate, Harris would be an unusually honest politician.

They know Trump lies. They just don’t know that Harris lies less. Or they do know it and have another concern about Harris:

Undecided voters haven’t turned on her. They just need to hear more from her.

Do you feel that it is important to Trump’s reelection effort that he provide proof verifying the years that he worked at Trump Village? Do you think such proof would convince us to vote for him, or sway independent voters on the fence?

With that much shit on Trump’s plate, How could you not make such an assumption?
