Did Kamala Harris work at McDonalds?

One of the stupidest, I agree.

But Obama’s long form birth certificate was stupider. His official birth certificate was already out there. His newspaper birth announcement was already out there. The chances he wasn’t born in the U.S. was zero. But it helped him to release the long hospital document.

I probably worked a dozen jobs in college, including every restaurant position imaginable. I can provide evidence for exactly one of them, because one of my co-workers at Cracker Barrel ended up in my med school class and we’re friends to this day. Otherwise nothing.

I did have to list all of those jobs when I applied for a medical license in NC. Then they came back and said they needed to account for my summers in high school as well. I almost put down “hanging out at the pool and smoking weed because I was fucking 16” but I figured that would be frowned upon. (Also, it wasn’t really true, because I wasn’t nearly that cool.)

The people that this stupid topic matters to are 100% MAGA all the way. They don’t give a shit. They are morons.

Yeah, this is the same crowd that are saying that Tim Walz wasn’t a “coach” because he wasn’t a “head coach.” They are simply looking for stupid, insigificant shit to pick at, in order to distract the Democrats from focusing on what’s actually important in winning the election.

Bandwidth spent by Harris or her campaign staff on digging up a 40 year old W2 form, and publicizing it, is bandwidth that they aren’t spending on meaningful campaigning.

I’m for Harris. Why should I want to shut up Trump?

The people who have a good reason to hope Trump talks less are his campaign managers.

You mean when he released it the day after he killed bin Laden? She will never be legitimate to the fascists.

Then why bother to address a nothingburger (intentional pun) that he keeps bringing up? As already noted, the people who are questioning the entire thing are people who aren’t going to vote for Harris anyway.

Yes, better for her to be dismissive, just like she was in the Dana Bash interview.

“Do you have documentary proof of where you worked 40 years ago? Next question.”

I’ll give documentation of my employment at McDonalds when McDonald Trump releases his Michigan Man of the Year documentation.

The Harris campaign obviously thinks otherwise. If they agreed with you in this point, they would not have repeatedly mentioned it.

I think some here underestimate the value of portraying yourself as one of the plain folks. Obsma did it by saying he worked at a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop.

Or maybe there’s no reason for her to lie about this and no reason to doubt it, so it’s not worth wasting time on because it doesn’t dignify a serious response.

And again, it is 100% absolutely clear which ticket is more on the plain folks side and which is on the rich, out of touch elite side. There is no debate.

So you suggest they just “Pay the Danegeld” and the Republicans will drop it?

Right. These are the same people who are literally claiming right now in 2024 that she can’t be president because the Dred Scott ruling says blacks can’t be citizens.

Trump began his real estate career at his father’s company, Trump Management, which focused on middle-class rental housing in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. One of Trump’s first projects was the attempted turnaround of the troubled Swifton Village apartment complex in Cincinnati, Ohio, which his father, Fred Trump, had purchased at foreclosure for $5.7 million in 1962, equivalent to $57 million in 2023. Fred and Donald Trump became involved in the project. By the time Trump graduated from college in 1968, he was receiving the 2019 equivalent of $1,000,000 a year in untaxed gifts from his father.

Which is exactly like starting out ‘flipping burgers’ for minimum wage doncha know!

I am pretty sure that

is in reference to “I bet she didn’t really actually work at McDonald’s - prove it!”, not the fact that she actually did work at McDonald’s, and that being able to talk about it does portray her as having had an experience common to everyday people.

I never said the GOP will drop it.

Refuting false opposition claims is a normal low cost part of campaigning. She probably has already put in a request to social security asking for her earnings record. Normally, you have to allow 120 days for processing:

Will they expedite because the request comes from a VIP? I have no idea.

EDIT: I’m not sure of the 120 days.

I’m of the opinion that I hope she hasn’t. This is moronic and should require none of her time. If she produces the official documentation it won’t matter a whit.

Could you give us a short descriptio? It’s paywalled.

No, no. The Birther movement was stupid enough, and Barack Obama should not have had to produce his birth certificate. The Burger movement is even dumber, and Kamala Harris is better off not playing to that game.

My first real job was at Toys R Us, I started back in the September of 1995, and worked until early 1998. I have no documentation. I used to have a little pewter keychain with Geoffrey the Giraffe on one side, and a backwards “R” on the other side, that you could only get after working there for 2 years, but I lost that, so I don’t even have that proof.

I’m sure the IRS has my tax filings from back in those days, as that was my employer on my documentation, but I don’t have it. It was almost 30 years ago. And Toys R Us has been through a bankruptcy, and has different owners, I can’t imagine what kind of records they’d still have today. The store I worked at decades ago is now a Hobby Lobby.
