metal mouse, I hope you waved to Sis as you were coming and going from Houston. Did you fly into Hobby or International?
The roofers began their work on my building shortly after I came home from irk. I’m trying to convince Nelson that they’re big squirrels.
I was covered up again today at irk. Everytime I thought I was getting somewhere, someone else would being me something more to do. Tonight, I’m going to begin the remodel of a pair of unfashionable legged jeans into a pair of capris suitable for irk. This new uniform shirt thing eliminated a third of my capris (navy shirt/ black pants not gonna happen), one pair has gotten too big, and one pair has bee disallowed per the dress code. It looks like I may have to go to Goodwill for another couple of pair.
We have supped Sonny’s style. OYKW had the pork [del]hawg trough[/del] sampler platter (ribs, pulled, and sliced poke) with baked beans and fries and I had the pulled poke with green beans and sweet N.O.T. He got the Texas toast and I got the cornbread. I et all of mine and he saved his pulled poke to make himself a sammich for N.O.L. tomorrow. Still awaitin’ the rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted by TWPTB. Some rain but not a lot so far. :dubious:
Juliet glad it wasn’t a heart attack. I once thought I was havin’ a heart attack but it turned out to be stress and anxiety.
Stress, swampy? How can you have stress when you have a hot tub? Sheesh, what a wuss…
Supper was good. Chillage is underway. It’s still raining. Our yard is squishy. I hate to think how tall the grass will be when it finally stops raining.
Back from the cardiac device clinic. My device is working just fine and the battery is supposedly good for another 5 years, so, unless I get hit by a meteor, I’ll be around for a little while longer anyway.
I was surprised to learn that my blood pressure was 104/58 after walking up 3 flights of stairs. Looks like some of my meds are working anyway. They ought to, considering what they cost.
Stopped at the sto on the way home. The sausages I wanted to get more of were no longer on sale but I still managed to spend eighteen dollahs and change on targets of opportunity, including Jelly Belly’s version of Jordan almonds Iffen you haven’t tried them, you should!
A day full of moderately interesting stuff, the flight to Houston (IAH, Red) I had some guy that was hacking up a lung every 20 seconds (allergies, he said) and took up 70% of the leg space. The Stewardess took pity upon me and moved me to an empty row. Traffic in Houston at 9am is…not good, but I found the Chinese Embassy while making only two wrong turns and getting my Passport with the Visa took less than 20 minutes. Went back to the airport since there wasn’t enough time to do what I wanted (Houston Space Flight Center) and I wasn’t much interested in walking around the city. Spent some $$ to use the United Lounge ($59 for 3.5 hours), but comfy chairs, brownies and cookies, and a 90 minute nap made it worth it. Flight back got diverted to Birmingham due to major-league Thunder-Boomers in Huntsville, so was over an hour late getting home. But I’m fed, relaxed, and happy, so it wasn’t all bad.
Bumba, envy your BP; mine was 149/102 last time.
Juliet, glad it wasn’t too serious (not that a muscle pull is lots of fun…it hurts. And FCM, like you I had gall bladder pain; almost wished it was a heart attack (damn that hurt).
Baker, that’s a little bit more excitement than one needs, methinks.
I think I will be turning in shortly; nap or no nap, up at 0430 and 16 hours and a couple thousand miles will weary one.
I did go to the gym. Either I hadn’t rusted out as much as I feared or I didn’t push myself anywhere near as much as I should have.
Tomorrow I’m planning on going to the movies. Such a tiring life!
I call those “floor 9 designs”; not every company has the VeePs in floor 9, but everybody understands the reference. My current client has very simple actual processes, but sadly their SAP processes are floor 9 designs. This week we have here a couple of guys whose job is to clean up the mess; they keep having mystical moments* and I keep saying I wish they’d exclaim in their native Portuguese, cos I wanna improve mine.
“Oh my God!” “Mother of God!” “Jesus Christ!” etc.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 84 (will this cold snap ever end!) and cloudy for the day. It did rain what appears to be a good amount overnight. No rain predicted today but tomorrow is supposed to be stormy. The plan to start mowage of the front forty at the church house tomorrow may not come to be. However we must get it all purtified cause the Bishop will be here Sunday. One just cannot have shabby grounds while the Bishop is about! Today’s plans call for not much. I shall make some chawklit chip cookies. Grilled chikin, sallit and cheesey garlic bread shall be supped upon.
OK, I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
The rain continues. It appears there is much floodage in sari’s neck of the woods, sorta. Not her specific town, but close enough, methinks. I’m not that familiar with that part of Merrylande.
I need to make a list of stuff not to forget before we leave in the morning. Like exactly where we pick up the truck for the kids’ move. I know it’s in Ocala, but I didn’t write down the address. I think I have it in an email. I hope so…
Till then, I get to do the drawings for a weldment for the Abrams tank trainer. WOOHOO!
We have been warned that they are flushing the hydrants at mothers house. This should cause the 1400+ houses in the over 55 community to freak the frack out. The warning arrived via e-mail, which is better than the regular mail, since the nice mail lady who sorts the letters into our boxes apparently has dyslexia.
Oh well, its a good way to meet your neighbors! :smack:
At least I’ll have time to do the laundry. Supposed to have a contractor over to view the bathrooms/kitchens for remodeling, so guess I’ll have to spend a couple of hours spiffing them up to impress them.
We haven’t had rain for days here, which is good, since we had some torrential rains right after 3 feet of late season blizzard snow melted. The ground is finally drying out and rivers are finally receding.
Up and laundry and general puttering. We’re off (but all of you knew that) for some baby thing for our one cousin in State College this weekend. Other than that the usual rain.
I believe it’s in the rulebook; one does not get a say in their own nickname.
Kinky!
Oh, ice-ing. [Emily Litella]Nevermind[/EL]
Some of the flood gates are down* already…& we’re s’posed to get as much as another 3" of rain by Sat night.
They’re permanently-installed railroad-style gates that are manually unlocked & lowered by PD or Highway dept personnel when the creeks turn into rivers. They used to just put up cones or saw horses but too many horses A___s would drive around them & keep driving…right until their car either died out &/or started to float, necessitating those in the FD (or sometimes those of us in EMS) to go Hoomaning**. :smack:
** If one throws a line in the water to catch a fish & reel them in to the shore & that’s called fishing…
I wasn’t trying to pick my nickname. Someone suggested either Romeo or Juliet, depending on my plumbing. I was just replying to their suggestion. Sorry if it came across as being presumptuous.
