swampie, over in a royal wedding thread Presiding Bishop Currie was called a “Holy roller preacher” by one poster while another who’d heard him preach before figured he “dialed it back for the Brits” I find both comments amusing.
It’s going to storm big tonight or so the weather folk on TV say. I hope the picnic after Pentecost service tomorrow isn’t spoiled.
Turns out it was a good thing we were upgraded to a 16’ truck. Whew, did they have a lot of crap!! We don’t need to turn it in till the 25th, so they’ll have time to unload and sort.
We’re leaving by 6 tomorrow and we’ll see how long it’ll take. FCD is in SC and he’ll stop soon for the night. Boy, are we spending a lot on gas…
Up at 3, Dammit. My alarm is set for 5 and we may be on the road by 6… maybe.
I was disgusted by the filthy conditions where the kids were living. Much of their stuff is covered in critter hair and just plain crud. We told them that nothing comes in the house without a good cleaning.
They’ll unload the truck into the garage. We’ll put a shop vac out there and a bucket of water and a pile of rags. The truck needs to be emptied by Thursday and I want to be parking in the garage by Saturday. We shall see.
If nothing else, Roxy seems to have a good immune system…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and possible rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. We shall see. The big item on the agenda today is deheathenization followed by a reception. Today is Pentecost Sunday and the Bishop’s annual visitation. I have ush duty which will involve among the usual duties chasin’ down folks who [del]were conscripted[/del] volunteered to do part of the reading from The Acts of The Apostles in various different languages. This part of the readin’ is to be done in unison with each person readin’ the passage in said assigned language. Should be interestin’.
Grandmoooooom y’all have a safe trip!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence. I must also arrange cheese thangs on my purty glass servin’ plate to take over to the church house. I’m makin’ it all real classy by placin’ a fancy paper doily on the plate and then arrangin’ the cheese thangs. I’m gettin’ all high falutin’ for the Bishop!
It’s a cool and cloudy 61 degrees outside, but supposed to get up to 81.
I’m sure it will be warmer than that in the armpit.
I want to leave around 10ish so we get there by noon.
I don’t know what the birthday dinner will be, either Chinese and pizza, or ham and potato salad.
My mother makes the best potato salad, but I haven’t had Chinese in ages, so I am happy with either.
Sah-son wants pizza because he loves the pizza place there.
FCM, just remember your definition of filthy and theirs’ may be slightly different; I think my house is fairly clean, you would probably call it…less so. Anyway, have a safe trip home.
Up at 6:30am, need to avoid nappage so I can get a regular night’s sleep tonight. 50% chance of rain today and rain is forecast for rest of week (only about 40% on any given day, but the odds are I’ll get wet sometime). Nothing much on the schedule this week.
Need to got out and get the Sunday paper so I can get a good start on the Sudoku.
It is soupy out there today; cut the run a bit short. put the winders down & drove home via the expressway in order to cool off a bit. Iffn it was safe to drive that way, I woulda hung my haid out the winder like a dog to get some extra airflow.
Now a shower & off to my next adventure, cleaning out a hangar.
FCM have a little mercy on them. Having a baby causes a person to cast a blind eye on a lot of things through sheer necessity. There’s baby, there’s sleep, and there’s food. Everything else comes after that.
Enjoy your falutin’ Swampy.
My parents are moving too. Last night they found one of my grandfather’s old rings, and now I am wearing it as my wedding ring. My wedding ring disappeared during one of surgical procedures, and I’ve been without for a while now.
We’re off to Orygun today. I am becoming a frequent traveller again.
swampy, a paper doily under the cheese thangs isn’t high falutin’, just a lovely presentation.
I slept until after eight this morning. Then again, it was one before I got to bed. We had fun last night going out to a new place for supper (I had grilled catfish street tacos and fried pickle spears. Yum!) and the bar that Don and his duet partner were playing was a hole in the wall dive out in the middle of BF Tennessee. I played there years ago and things haven’t changed much.
Sudoku’s solved and Longhorn Sirloin consumed, I about a half-hour I need to go out and collect the bags of soccer balls I allotted to the 6-Under coaches this season (I am the coordinator, which means I get to do stuff like that).
Already near 90F so that is the extent of my outdoor activity today.
Sunny, nice story about the ring. Glad it was found and is serving a good purpose.
Safe travels and a happy day, Sari
Red, is that East or West BF, Tennessee? (for any Non-American MMPers, BF is for "Bum/Butt)+(Very naughty word).
Howdy Y’all! I ushed, got deheathenated, watched folks bein’ confirmed or received by the Bishop, got blessed by the Bishop (he blessed the garden and grounds and all us folks who take care of ‘em. We got asperges.) After that there was a nice reception with all kinds of nummy goodies and cake. The blessin’ took place in the Church Proper because about ten minutes before the end of deheathenization it poured rain. I knew it was rainin’ cause I was performin’ ush duty and was in the Narthex and heard it rainin’ on the metal awning of the walkway between the two buildin’s so I discretely signaled the Verger and told him it was rainin’, who in turn notified EYP who in turn notified the Bishop who announced to the faithful assembled just before the recessional hymn that the blessin’ would be inside due to the biiiiiiiiiig rain (I’m talkin’ gullywasher!). Notice all the proper channels were observed. I knows my ushin’ real good! Oh and the recessional hymn was All Things Bright And Beautiful so I had this goin’ through my haid. The thing I mentioned about folks doin’ part of the readin’ in different languages this mornin’ went off well and was kind of cool. In other news, we achieved nappage.
We supped at that paragon of fine dinin’ known as Three Squares Diner. Both of us had a cheeseburger and fries. We could have gone high end and gotten the hamburger steak but we’ve been high falutin’ enough for one day. Tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. I drug the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Lookin’ kinda stormyish out so glad to be in for the evenin’.
Labyrinth is an interestin’ thing. The Minotaur was in more of a maze which I gather is considered a type of labyrinth. The labyrinth at the church house looks like this. Unless the Minotaur is really, really stoopid he could find his way out of our labyrinth.
