Did the USA elect a fictional character as President in 2016?

Who else, besides you, are claiming this, foolsguinea?

He’d already damaged it before being sworn in and has kept on the same vein. Can’t accuse him of being inconsistent.

One of the remarks in the car as we heard the results of the election was along the lines of “holy fuck, they’ve elected someone who’s like 4chan with worse grammar!”

Trump was well known back into the 1980s. Yeah a lot of his personality is probably fake, but if it’s a pure character then he has been sticking with the act so long it might as well be the real him.

How about the creators of the show (The Apprentice):

There are 2 others (a biographer and a director) in the article that talk about how the donald is a fake.

Can you explain why you think he is a good president, assuming you do?

…I don’t remember.

OK, it’s probably just me and Kevin Spacey. But as a subject for discussion, it got Stranger to endorse Jean “What broccoli people?” Grey for President of the United States, so I consider it fruitful.

ETA: I may have seen a passing reference to what mistymage linked in post #44.

Thank you. I am generally suspicious of any conversation that starts with “Some say…” or “I’ve heard it said…” without identifying who said it.

The US electoral college elected a reality TV star, not the populate vote.

Let’s not forget, Tired and Cranky that, for the 45th year in a row, the Republicans have failed to do anything about abortion. Lots of sturm and drang, as usual, threats to PP, but they made sure to, again for the 45th year in a row, not make any significant movements on the one issue which they dare not solve.

And 45 years from now we still won’t have a beautiful magnificent wall on our Southern Boarder.
