Balance. It’s all about balance.

If I were to hate a show as much as CatFight hates 2 1/2 Men, I think I’LL pick Big Brother, or The Hills. The sitcom at least has a very talented crew spouting very vulgar dialogue. Whereas those other 2 shows…well, do I even have to explain?
You want Chuck Lorre’s vanity cards? All of 'em? Even the ones from Cybill and Grace Under Fire? Okay, the last two are the same and a quick read, but reading the rest is a project not entered into lightly.
The thing I dislike about Two And A Half Men, is frankly the actors are capable of doing better.
I don’t like “toliet humour” and such but the fact is Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer are excellent comic actors, they don’t need to resort to this lowest common form of humour to get a quick laugh.
In other words they are capable of doing better so why don’t they?
It’s filmed in front of a live ostrich!
It’s not just toilet humor. There’s sex humor, sibling rivalry humor, food humor, girlfriend humor, ex-wife humor, mother humor, job humor, school humor, kid humor, wacky neighbor humor, therapist humor, stalker humor, jealous husband humor, funeral humor, wedding humor – all kinds, as well as some good bits of slapstick (although I’m not nuts about the slapstick).
Yeah, Sheen and Cryer could both do better, but maybe nobody’s made them any offers. After six (?) years, they’ve been typecast.
Well, Jon Cryer DID have to give up that Oscar-winning movie career to take this gig, but hey, maybe he felt like slumming.
BTW, I’ve seen several dozen episodes of this show and I can’t recall ANY toilet humor. I don’t like that either, but I haven’t seen any on the show.
There’s a little bit of it, which is okay with me – everybody poops!
Alan can’t pee with his girlfriend in the bathroom (brushing her teeth). She leaves and he still can’t pee, until she sings a song her mother used to sing to help her pee: “Tinkle tinkle little star”. Alan yells through the door: “It’s working!” and then we hear him fart.
Jake seems depressed and is taken to a therapist – turns out he’s just constipated. A discussion about how corn isn’t easily digestible gives Jake a good line: “It’s like a bookmark in your poop!”
You just covered 98% of entertainers and entertainment in history. And it’s hardly toilet humor, unless you regularly get laid in the toilet.
You’d better believe I’ve been working on this, inserting ‘Reich’ and ‘Fuhrer’ into every TV show title, looking for a win. I’ve got nothing.
Check the footnotes in Mein Kampf. There’s gotta be something!
I enjoyed two and a half to start off with but it soon became apparent that it was a one trick pony.
It used the tired old predictable format that has been over used in so many comedies like it…
Oooh oooh Charlie likes pretty women(hilarious!)
And women find him attractive(Who’d have thought it eh?)
Amusing, if trite to start off with, but boring, formulaistic and predictable after only a few episodes.
I enjoy “Two and a Half Men” a lot! I just recently started watching “The Big Bang Theory”, and I get a lot of laughs out of it, as well.
I don’t think that Charlie has been quite as entertaining this last season, since he has started experimenting with monogamy. His fiance Chelsea (played by Jennifer Bini Taylor), while very attractive, seems a bit bland.
I always thought that John Cryer played the “Charlie Brown/Rodney Dangerfield” character of Alan Harper very well. Charlie Sheen, while an excellent comedic actor, basically just gets to play himself, like Bill Cosby or Jerry Seinfeld did. And Angus Jones handles his role expertly – very dumb, but entertaining, with great comedic timing!
Now, the supporting cast really shines! Conchata Ferrell as Berta is amazing, Holland Taylor plays the “castrating mother figure” Evelyn so well that it is frightening, and Rose is simply charming in her “cute-but-deranged-stalker” role.
All in all, a pretty entertaining half hour!
I agree. Charlie’s women are always physically attractive but their personalities are interchangeable. Except for the occasional nutjob, but Alan seems to attract most of those.
