Did you identify as gay early in life? Help me support my kid please.

I knew that I was gay by the age of six and I began the long road toward self-acceptance. I identified within myself as being gay, but didn’t come out to my friends and family until I was 20!

In retrospect, my mom and I see the proof that I was BORN gay!

My mom was 18 when she gave birth to my sister. She went into labor 12 days early and my sister was born just 7 hours later.

The second child is usually easier than the first. Mom had just turned 21 the month before I was born. She didn’t go into labor until 16 days after her due date. During the two months before going into labor, the doctor feared the worst as he was unable to hear my heartbeat. Thankfully, he discoverd that I was facing toward mom’s back/spine and was able to hear a hearbeat from her back.

During her initiall hours of labor, the nurses and doctor also realized that I was going to be a breech birth (feet first)! It took 41 hours of agonizing labor before I finally entered the world!

That was in 1975 and they lacked the technology to properly plan for unusual siutations as they do now. Today, they would have performed a Caesarean section and it all would have been over in a few hours!

It was obvious that I had no intention of entering the world through a vagina! I can imagine tiny little me in the womb thinking, “NOPE! I’m not going near that thing! Somebody cut me an escape hatch dammit! And who let the damn water out of my pool???” I even tried to use my feet to avoid entering the birth canal…only when I had exhausted my tiny little self and put my mom thru 41 hours or agonizing pain did I finally give in and come out via that orifice!

And I can almost remember, after my nightmare was over and I took my first breath in the real world…I looked back over my shoulder at the portal I had just passed through and thought, “Nah, that’s not for me…”

And 38 years later, it’s still not for me, thanks! =)

This story kind of made my day.
