We felt it here in San Diego.
I was on the toilet. Not the most dignified place to be if the Big One hits.

Man, twicks, you’re getting good at merging earthquake threads!
[sub]I wonder who’ll handle the volcano threads?[/sub]
Daisy, one of our kittens, started yowling outside the living room window for no apparent reason about 5 seconds before the quake hit. Perceptive little thing.
Enough warning to be afraid, but not enough to do anything about it.
Yep. They’re playing with us.
San Fernando Valley. I was in my car, at a red light. I thought the car behind me must have bumped me, but I looked and it was too far back. The very mild rolling/bumping sensation continued, the light turned green and I forgot about it. Then a DJ on the radio said “Well, that was a 5.9,” as it was then estimated.
Carson here. I was walking a shopping cart around Ralph’s market in Torrance and did not feel it, and apparently no one else in the store did as I was unaware of it until I listened to KNX on the way home, about 30 minutes after the quake.
I’m pretty sure I just felt an aftershock just now. The house shook once where in the day it was two strong shakes going very quickly. I’m in the coast in SD.
Felt it in Imperial Co. I felt it about 7 seconds before the cats did, and the cats have finally gotten ‘used’ to the tremors, and come out from hiding within a few minutes now.
I have often wondered how the ‘depth’ of the quake affects how wide the area of effect is, because it’s clear that some earthquakes are felt much more widely than others, despite being ‘smaller’. So…I wonder if depth has anything to do with it. And I have no clue, but if anyone else has an idea and wants to share it’d be interesting
It’s got to be better than shitting your pants when the Big One hits.
Beat me to it, Rysto, I was thinking a toilet might be a very convenient place to be.
Not in California, but I was in LA in '94. Been there, done that. Yikes.
Aw c’mon. This is the SDM-F’n-B, and no one has linked the obvious Carol King classic?
