I just learned this and thought I’d share - there were no red Swingline staplers before the movie “Office Space.” As you can imagine, there are now. Pretty, pretty red staplers.
Fine, the movie prompted a re-issue.
I wasn’t being a douche, Just the facts ma’am.
Well, I was reading the title, and I Was like:
But, the Movie had one! (obviously)
I didn’t see how the Movie could make one up on it’s own.
It was painted.
I have one of the red swingline staplers (the reissue). My bro-in-law bought it for me. I loves it. (And I leave it at home so no one will steal it at work. I’m not stupid.)
Neat trivia!
That movie is still funny even after all these years.
One time, where I currently work, we were all being shuffled around in the offices, and I was the newest hire at the time. So, I got the crappiest office next to the air compressor and with a southern exposure that caused the temp in the room to approach 80 degrees F almost every afternoon that summer. One of the guys who eventually became a good friend of mine gave me a Swingline stapler and said to hang on to it or else they’d move me to the trailer out back next week.
I still have it.
Bad idea. If someone does take it, you’ll have to set your own home on fire.
Rather than stepping on this thread with a hijack, I have started a thread on Milton called In Praise of Stephen Root and others of his clan if you’d like to branch out on that topic.
I have one on my desk right now.
They apparently took regular Swingline staplers to an autobody shop and got a really good paintjob on them. I found that cool, too (and it makes me want to buy staplers and have them painted at an autobody shop).
What about tattoos?
I don’t think autobody shops are very good at this. I wouldn’t try it, personally.
i gave one to my rather decent supervisor for her birthday. She loves it.
Sadly, they laid me off for in 2008.
A year later they re-hired me, coincidence? I think not!
An autobody shop tattoo? That would just be weird.
My Swingline is burgundy. I think I’m about to have a huge inferiority complex.
