Did you upgrade from Juno Email 5.XX to 8.8.1 and restore “All” the old 5.XX files to 8.8.1 and How?

Since the forced 5.XX to 8.8.1 Juno Email upgrade has anyone successfully recovered and loaded an XP System to another computer’s XP system? Such as, I like to keep a back up computer with the same files and folders. I’m trying not to give up on this data saved since about 1990 but the winter challenge has me wondering if anyone has been successful in making this transition (saving all the old Data).

  1. This was simple with 5X by loading 5X to the 2nd Comp. restore with a backup from the 1st comp…

  2. This is not working or not allowed with 8.8.1 Internet Ver (files created in another Ver. is the error message).

  3. Going to Juno 8X before the 8.8.1 was part of the original loading explained by Juno, is it still needed?

  4. Juno Techs are telling me that 5X files and still on my computer, compatible in their folders vs the one now.

  5. I’m told I will have to search and find : “Please note that the user folders “user00” and addrbook.nv files has the emails and address book contacts.

  6. Were you able to get these files back to the order that you had them in (since about 1990 in my case)?

Finally the Juno tech suggested the following after my repeated tries.

"Please note that the user folders and addrbook.nv files has the

>> emails and address book contacts. You need to copy these files from

>> old computer to new computer. This is an alternate step to transfer

>> the data. For copying the data to CD or flash drive, you may need to

>> contact family members, friends or a local system technician. We

>> have a limited support and we are unable to assist on this regard".

Thanks In Advance For Any Help!

AFAIK I am still using JUNO 4.0 in WIN2000 on a H-P Vectra p3.
Right now the JUNO gnomes are forcing a download on me.
It is 72% loaded so far and I do not know what “improvements”
they have in mind. JUNO 4.0 is on a CD and does not require
“joint activation.” Maybe they will take away my OLR (offline reader)
status. They did move my message archive to a mainframe cache.
What was once $5 per year is now $12 per month, even though I
do not use the web tab.

I am surprised that we all were not forced to the “New 8.8.1 over 6-8 mo ago. My concern is to continue with Juno since I have data from about 1990. I have backups at least every 6 mo but what will they be compatible with?

The forced upgrade dumped over 1, 000 files that I hope were repetitive files. The approx 3,000 saved files were dumped into one “recovered folder”, vs 8-10 they were sorted into.

The “Bottom Line” is I put too much trust into this Software relater to Family History and Records vs Word or Etc… A little comfort is that most Pics I sent were saved and edited in My Pics Folder before attaching them in Juno. Plus, a collection of old hard drives before the force upgrade (that will open on the drives vs going on line and allow them to upgrade).
