difficult song i.d.

Okay, I’ve got a really hard song identification for people who love song identification.

It’s classic rock. The background rhythm is a keyboard synth. The singer sounds like the guy from Talking Heads; it might even be him. The chorus, which I haven’t deciphered for sure, sounds like “do a little ____, make a little _____” with the first blank being a pitch or two higher than the second blank. At the end of the song the chorus becomes a crowd yelling it, similar to how children were used in Pink Floyd. Beyond this, I have no idea what the song’s called or who the artist is. Help welcomed! Thank you.

Do a little dance, make a little love
Get down tonight, Get down tonight
?
KC and the Sunshine Band, Get Down Tonight

Hardly! That’s not classic rock.

The singer also sounds a lot like David Essex, for anyone who’s familiar…

What I’ve got you’ve got to give it to your mamma
What I’ve got you’ve got to give it to your pappa
What I’ve got you’ve got to give it to your daughter
You do a little dance and then you drink a little water

Red Hot Chili Peppers, “Give It Away”

Try again! Hehehe…

Sounds like it could be Don Henley’s Dirty Money.

The chorus hook, which is chanted by a large crowd of people as the song ends, goes like this:

“Kick 'em when they’re up
Kick 'em when they’re down”

etc.

“… kick 'em when they’re sick
Kick 'em all around”

Henley doesn’t really sound like David Byrne, though.

??

Dirty Laundry, not money. Lyrics here.

You guys got it! Thank you so much!

That’s what I get for posting at 3 am… thanks for the correction and the helpful link.
