Any chance of an epdate on the web page so that we can see what’s going on?
Right on. 'Tis a good day for Turkey.
Evens out, since Turkey is on his last drumstick in 1099. The replacement player didn’t ever attempt to communicate before attacking me. Now your GM is heading for a win, which just isn’t right.
I plan to get one going soon. I changed ISPs and haven’t sorted out the new webspace yet, not to mention I’m working off a computer who’s guts are spilling out onto the floor because I haven’t had time to finish the new one.
Stay tuned.
Not sure where we stand on the adjudication because there seems to be some kind of miscommunication between Austria and I. I’ll update you all as soon as I know the situation. I’m still missing orders from France and Austria, if you’re one of those two, submit them please.
Any updates on orders or adjudication?
I’m lulling you all into a false sense of security before I spring my master plan.
Strange. You have the same strategy as I do. Not that we necessarily have the same master plan, mind you. Does yours involve hot tubs and cocktails in the Caribbean, too?
Only if you are there my dear.
Dare I say it?
Match point!

Congrats, Soup!
Grats, Sultan.
Thanks, y’all! I hope it was as fun for you as it was for me.
Good game, Now all we need is another one so I can make up for a few key strategy errors, such as completely deserting my home centers. :smack:
If I may so indulge myself. I am not really a newbie as such, so I have a few pointers that the game pointed out to me.
-
Submit provisional orders. I submitted orders immediately after I recieved the previous email. Getting in orders that you wish you had changed later is a lot better than not submitting orders.
-
As our Russian pal said, it is generally poor strategy to leave your supply centers dangling in the wind. Abandoning the homefront is a sure way to draw enemy forces looking for centers. Usually, a slow, methodical march is the best way to acquire a win, rather than blitzkrieg.
-
Geography is destiny. You can generally tell where a power is going by the lay of the land. If I’m Italy, I will always go after France before I go after England.
-
Alliances nonwithstanding, you should always make sure that your enemies think that they can gain nothing by stabbing you.
-
Stab in the fall. You have less units to deal with after the enemy disbands troops.
-
When I played my first Diplomacy game, I was genuinely hurt when somebody I trusted stabbed me. After I’ve played a few games, I realize that it is just a game. Do not take it as a personal offense if someone goes after you. Do you hold a grudge when someone checkmates you in chess? No.
-
Then again, taking an opponent on a guilt trip can work. I was duped early in my Dipping career when I laid off someone who I stabbed earlier. He then conquered me.
-
Y’all should’ve gone after me sooner. Every player should do everything possible to prevent someone else from getting 18 centers. The moment someone else gets all the centers needed, the game is over. No second place.

Pay attention to the other parts of the world. EFG were still squabbling about while I was getting powerful in the South.
That’s about it. 'Twas fun! (My first win.)
