Diplomacy - Dominatrix

Everybody likes bold, right?

Oh, I know that I can land the fleet to take Portugal. I’m just not happy about having to do it.

I wouldn’t land the fleet to take Portugal.

Wait, wait.

If I have to have a unit IN Spain at the end of the turn to control it, how can I possibly control both Spain and Portugal at the end of the turn without using the fleet?

Now I’m very confused.

He means, take Spain(sc) with your fleet and Portugal with your army

Pretty amazing he’s getting three builds, eh?
(sorry Johnny B, just it’s kind of fun watching someone still struggling with the basic rules and movements kicking @$$ )

Wrongo IMHO. Take Spain with the army. Once you are in Portugal, you will have to march 2 seasons to even get back into your homeland. Add 1 or 2 more to get into action. The channel is safe. Make a deal with England to stay out. If England renegs, build a fleet in Brest. Next year, you can move back into the Mid Atlantic Ocean with the fleet, and to either Gascony or Marseilles with the army.

Russia - Never, EVER give up the Black to Turkey. However, he (all players will be considered ‘he’ no offense intended. However, he didn’t move to Armenia, so it may not be a serious attack. Make fast friends with either Turkey or Austria. Foment bloody wars in the west.

Turkey - Well done grabbing the Black Sea. Even if it’s not an attack on Russia, it gives you good bargaining power. Who will be your first enemy. Beware the Key Lepanto. Promote bloody warfare in the west.

Austria- Bummer about Trieste, liebling. I don’t see how it’s possible, given the right move, to not gain one center this year. Shibb, feel free to discuss it via email (or here, once the turn is over). Start wars in the west.

Italy Very aggressive moves. I like it. You also have a lot of bargaining power. See if you can bargain for Greece with your fleet. Beware of France making inroads. Start wars in both the west and the east.

Germany - As mentioned by the honorable gentleman from Ohio, beware of giving too much to France. Pick your enemies well, as you are in direct contact with everyone except Turkey. Try for the North Sea, or make friends with England? Hmmmm. And I want to explore that black leather thing further. Oh yeah, start wars in the east.

England - Perhaps too conservative on the first move? See above comment for Russia, and apply it to the North Sea, with a lot more 'never’s. If Germany, or god forbid, France take the North Sea, start looking for another game. You don’t have to choose yet, but next year will see you siding with either France or Germany. Stay in communication with Russia too. Instigate wars in the east.

France - wonderful start. You will have to attack somebody next. Your winter builds will tell who is your next victim. You like the ideas of wars everwhere while you keep growing.

Hey guys - sorry for the silence - I expected to have more time this weekend near a computer. Tomorrow morning, lots of emails.

Uh, Abe Babe. Russia invited me in to the Black Sea.

That depends on whether she feels the growth offsets having Italians camped in your living room. Unless it’s a sham attack (where have I seen that done before? ), then she might need to dedicate most of her resources to try and extricate the parasite. I won’t say more than that here.

Yes, but you could move a fleet in Spain(sc) to Western Med, or Gulf of Lyons! Think of the danger and excitement! And build F in Brest, move it to Mid-Atlantic Ocean, and convoy, convoy, convoy your way to freshness!

Italy, please pay no attention to the above.

Thank you.

Pay no attention to what?

We Italians are known for our discreetness. Discrecy? We may not know the correct word, but we are known for it.

I havent been checking this thread out often enough. But I’ve finally gotten around to coming back here and was very surprised to see that there were analysis(es?) of our opening moves. I guess the hold London had a few people befuddeled, but I had my reasons. Anyway, I wanted to apologize out right about the hold up in the game last week. As our esteemed gamemaster said in the email and here on the board, there was one player that sent in orders…yeah that was me. I apologize and I have read and re-read the rules and re-reading them right now just to make sure I have everything down. I think the thing that confuses me most is engaging the enemy and new units. Anyway, I can’t wait to see the results of the fall.

Shibb, Abe Babe, fur is nice, and a sword, of course, is required… but black leather, now that’s intriguing… ;^)

[sub]discretion, I think, Principessa… those damnable words that don’t noun normally… [/sub]

Heh, I’m sure this information is wonderful news to your opponents.

I would like to announce that Germany and I will begin our world domination this fall. we will be visiting each of you in turn. Please have a meal prepared.

We also prefer that you kneel on your left knee and Salute with your right hand.

That is all.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. If he needs an army as badly as Abe thinks, he can just build one in Mar. A Por would only be one space further than A Spa, but F Por would be two further.

Having six SCs in 1901 gives any player the opportunity to use the shotgun approach. Get two units in the middle of your neighbor’s battles, and use them as bargaining chips for your own home front.

This all depends on the GM continuing to disallow teleportation, though. Some day some GM is going to allow the move to NAf that is my standard hold order.

::looks confusedly at Mastema:: Not this Germany, dear. We glare menacingly from the homefront…

Erika, isn’t that what you’re doing on Warsaw’s door?

Silly me. I thought you sent an envoy for a bilateral conference.

Oh, come now, Sultan, do you really like to keep your friends that close in this game? If so, there’s an army I’d like to dispatch to Constantinople…

[sub]One could, of course, similarly speculate on your position in the Black Sea… but wouldn’t of course. Turkey’s far to busy to take up touring, isn’t she?[/sub]
