Why anonymous players?
That’s the game’s set up. It shouldn’t really matter.
I’m at work right now, but I’ll sign on to the game when I get home.
Damn. This filled up fast. Six people are in, which means one more spot is open.
I’ll give it a shot…I’m in, game’s started.
I surrender!! ::eek::
Appropriate username/post combo…
Let me guess: You got Austria? You poor benighted fool.
Damn, I missed the chance to join you guys this time out. Well I’ll catch the next one.
I know barely anything about the game, but it seemed to me the reason Austria got pulverised early in the one time I played was because we (Russia) allied with Turkey immediately, so Austria was an obvious target. But Austria never approached us at all! Had they done so, and suggested (for example) allying with us against Germany and Italy, we would have considered that. Perhaps they did suggest such an alliance with Germany and Italy, but didn’t realise Russia and Turkey had a solid partnership, so got crushed anyway.
Should we start a different thread for the specific game?
Not that I want to now, but I always thought it would be fun to have a game where all negotiations occur in a thread here with spoiler tags and the honor system. Maybe another time.
For the next game, if we REALLY want it, I can disable any kind of discussion. Then, someone can start a thread for all negotiations.
For sure! I’m sorry you missed this one. The game shouldn’t take too long.
You’re free to make an account and spectate everything that happens, minus the conversations.
There are tons of tutorials online that helped even me learn the game. There is enough time between each turn to learn the basics. I highly recommend you get on it before you make a mistake that will hurt you for the rest of the game.
This game is FILLED as of Aug. 15, 2018. Stay tuned for the results in a few weeks.
I’m happy to make another game when we’re finished with this one if there are enough people.
That would be an … interesting variant. I mean, lying to country X about what country Y just told you is an inherent part of the game strategy. You couldn’t do that if everyone sees what everyone says. You’d have to be far more subtle.
I hate subtle!
Aha, I’ve discovered that there’s a preview button. Press the button with the green check mark on the far right and you see a map with a preview of your orders laid out. No excuse for bad orders!
I’m glad it gets going! It would be fun to see the way it works. I know comments during the game would be tricky, but they could be made about the previous turns or just be conversation. Or have someone as a reporter?
Hope everyone has fun!
Having a reporter would be amusing. Always good to read an outside perspective. One should be careful not to speculate on the current or future turns, though.
The preview button is cool, thanks for pointing it out!
I’ve also found that the website shows up pretty well on the browser for my phone, if anyone wants to check messages while away from home. You can zoom in on the map and everything.
