Is anyone watching this show? Man, I LOVE it! It is such deliciously wicked fun!
Last night’s episode (12/3) was awesome. Love to hate Simon Elder. Love, love, love Karen Darling (damn, she’s gorgeous!). Love how sweetly manipulative (and smart!) Jeremy Darling is. Love how Letitia is slowly going over the edge. Love hard-nosed soft-heart Brian.
I hate Lisa and I’m so glad Nick left her. She is really a self-absorbed bitch. And when she comes off like that compared to the Darlings. . .!
And what can I say about Donald Sutherland as Tripp Darling. He is just the epitome of suave and cool and brilliantly evil.
I really hope they don’t cancel this show, as threatened.
Nick left his wife? The writers turned her into a bitch?
I watched the first few episodes of S1. Hated Karen with a passion, which is pretty much how I feel about any woman who goes after a married man, even if she really “loves” him. I couldn’t get past that so I stopped watching.
I’m glad it’s working for you though. Appointment TV can be a good thing.
Didn’t this show already get canceled? Or if not officially, it wasn’t picked up for the entire season which is usually the end of the road for a series, right?
I l-o-v-e-d the first season, but I just couldn’t stick with the second- I stopped watching. I miss Juliet (the other twin) this season, I’m sad Brian left the church- it was funnier when he was a total contradiction as a priest, it seems to have gotten more serious and less insane/darkly comical/fun, which is what I really loved about the first season.
Well, they separated. As to whose idea it was first, I can’t recall. But yes, she’s a self-centered, hypocritical bitch. She lied to Nick about opening an art gallery, whines at him about Karen still being in love with him, even though he keeps her at arm’s length, yet had a massive make-out session with Jeremy (of all people!).
Well it is trash TV, after all. But I give her a teeny pass (in context of the show - I wouldn’t in real life) because they have a long history, used to date, were in love at one time, and she always thought they’d end up married. And given who she is and the family she comes from, she of course has a wee bit of a sense of entitlement. Plus, I hate Lisa and would love to see Nick and Karen get together, so to me, it’s fun to watch the dynamic between the three of them.
HelloNinja, that’s what I was talking about. I hope they don’t actually go through with canceling it. My husband keeps seeing Donald Sutherland on the lot (saw him yesterday walking his dog, as a matter of fact), so it seems like they’re still in production, which I hope is a good sign.
xanthous, I think we finally found something we disagree about! I couldn’t stand Juliet and was thrilled when she left the show (sorry to hear that the actress left to go into rehab for a drug problem, but not surprised). It was like being subjected to Paris Hilton among the likes of Donald Sutherland and Jill Clayburgh. Juliet was a mindless twit with no redeeming qualities and her absence actually lifts the quality of the show.
And this season does still have that insane/darkly comical/fun stuff. You should see Letitia going over the deep end. It’s brilliantly creepy.
One thing I do agree with you about is that I wish Brian were still a Priest. But he’s still hilarious just the same. And I wish they’d bring back Carmelita, too!
I loved when Ellen’s brother said, “She never liked you” or something like that and Karen said, “Well, that’s disappointing! I always considered her a friend.” Her delivery of that line was priceless.
I thought they were going to leave it with that cliffhanger until after the new year, but my cable system program guide says that there’s a new episode tomorrow night. And the suspicious brother-in-law has guaranteed that he will never be believed.
Me, too! You’d think the “spoiled rich girl” character would be so one-dimensional, but Natalie Zea is really good at making you see so much personality and spirit in Karen. If they do cancel this show, I hope she can spin long-term success out of this role.
YAY! But. . . I just saw what the title of tomorrow night’s episode is, and it’s making me very sad to think about what it probably means. Don’t look if you don’t want to potentially be spoiled: It’s called, “The Organ Donor”
He really went over the deep end, didn’t he?! I like Scott Holroyd, too. I used to watch him on As The World Turns, and was pleased to see him show up on a prime time show of this calibre.
And xanthous, if you’re still checking this thread, you might be pleased to know that Brian is going back to the Church!
Carmelita who dies. Which sucks because she’s the most genuinely GOOD person on the show. Though Jeremy did get an awful conk to the head, and head injuries are a good bet for organ donations. Still, I’m betting Carmelita is a goner.
Well, things could take a really surprising twist:
Carmelita could have been shot in the nether regions, meaning there would be the loss of an organ, which would require surgery and…well…I am not sure if her sexual equipment has ever been fully disclosed, but this would certainly make her more of a woman kinda sorta maybe…and better equipped, so to speak, to be an official spouse for the Senator…
