Disappearing threads?

Yesterday morning (6/9) I contributed a post to a thread in MPSIMS. When I was home last night to follow up on it I was not able to locate the thread. I searched for various keywords and eventually ran a search on my own name to list all the threads to which I have recently posted. The thread I was looking for did not appear in this list (I made sure all the search settings were correct). I thought the thread may have been removed, though I could see no reason for this to have occurred (it was this thread, by the way). When I returned to work today the thread was still there and several new replies had appeared since I posted to it. I’m curious to see if it will come up when I go back home again today.

What I want to know is, why would a post be accessible from one computer but not from another? Or would have I possibly seen the same thing happen if I were using my work computer last night?

I think I realized what might have happened. I was still logged into the SDMB on my work computer when I left yesterday (a meeting ran late and I didn’t bother to power down my PC before leaving for home) so it was still logged in at work at the same time I was accessing the board at home. Since I powered down my work PC today I was able to see the missing thread at home. Can simultaneous log-ons by the same username on two workstations cause something like this to happen?

Thanks, Arnold. Incidentally, I did peruse the FAQ before I posted, although when I did I was looking for information pertaining to being logged on from more than one computer, and I didn’t see this addressed in the FAQ.
