Problems with a thread

I was posting to the Cool toys thread; and as I clicked Submit, SDMB had a database error. When it finally came back up, I went back to the thread. My reply did not post, so I re-posted it. It was then that I noticed that the thread had been moved to MPSIMS. Only I still see it in CS and not MPSIMS. I tried to reply with a quote, and the quoted text did not appear in the box.

Wassup?

When I post, the part of the page listing “Last Posted By” does not refresh. I also lost my connection for a few minutes.

Are there server issues?

Regards,
Shodan

Clicking on a specific post’s number brings back something from 1999 with no text other than “Guest.”

ETA: Make that 1969!

There’s some weirdness going on. I’ve had a couple of database errors. I’ve emailed Tubadiva.

Please see announcement above – we’re having system problems. Reset is on the way.

I have been getting notifications for posts that do not show up in the thread, seeing posts in the thread that do not appear when I try to reply to them / preview, seeing posts in my list of subscriptions that don’t show up in the thread, etc. Just started this morning. No change in my computer or network configuration. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

i for one am enjoying this twilight zone experience.

We’re having some problems. If you can read this, see this announcement.

What if we can’t read it?

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture.

See new sticky-board is wonky.

Unix time starts at 00:00 Jan 1, 1970. Unknown time values often default to 1969 so if you see a random date like that it almost always means a corrupted or empty time field.

That’s probably due to board problems. I hear we’re having some.

“Why can’t Czarcasm read?”

Situation is resolved, we think. Well, the board problem, Czarcasm, I dunno.

Think things are fixed now. Please let us know if you see anything that indicates differently.

testing testing

The earlier problem seems to be gone now. Thanks.

There was something funky going on with the server earlier; it seems to have been resolved. I have merged multiple threads asking about it.

While you’re thinking about resetting the board, just another little board issue reminder:

TubaDiva, you mentioned a long time ago (about a year) that if someone wants to e-mail you with SDMB issues, it should go to your straightdope(dot)com address, not your e-mail address at aol(dot)com. At the time, I pointed out that your aol address still appears on the Straight Dope front page.

It still does. Here’s a snippet of the text you can search for to find it:
