Not this woman. I just looked down at my clothing and couldn’t for the life of me recall where I purchased any of it. However (and this is my personal opinion and in no way meant as snobbery), I think I might be embarrassed to walk into a discount store like target or walmart wearing attired purchased there as opposed to walking into a trendy shop in NYC wearing their line.
Of course you know where you bought things! They have cute little tags in them. I’ve only ever gotten the "I like your <article of clothing>!
" from an employee once. (Buckle jeans, which is weird, because they have milllllions of jeans, and you wouldn’t think they’d recognize them.)
I usually don’t feel bad wearing something from a store that I’m shopping at, unless I go in and see that it’s now on super ultramega clearance and I paid 20x the price for it.
I think you’re right on that note.
I don’t consciously plan to wear my clothes into the same store where it was purchased, but when it happens, it’s nice to hear the compliments about the clothing.

Well, I’ve got a uniform so it’s easy to remember:
Underpants: WalMart Just My Size ~$10/6 pair
Bras: KMart Playtex, $15 each
Socks: never
work shirts: Lands End stretch cotton, $19-$29
work pants: all Lee Riders, from WalMart or KMart $17-$20
home T-shirts: WalMart Fruit of the Loom $4
home pants: WalMart men’s pj pants $8
Birks: Birkenstockcentral.com or qvc.com or Simply Birkenstock (bricks and mortar) $40-$110
Danskos: hospital bookstore $80-$100
And that’s it! Really. And I shop Wal*Mart and KMart for other things so maybe they notice my pants, but probably not. They’re pretty nondescript.
Oooh, I love Danskos. You can get them really cheaply sometimes at Sierra Trading Post. I buy almost all my shoes there (they have Birkies too) now and I’m rarely disappointed.
