Discussion for the Israel-Hamas War: A thread in the Pit

I want to see Bibi in jail, I have no interest in his taint. If that’s what floats your boat, more power to you.

Find time to be walked through the fact that adverse possession doesn’t allow for the formation of a state within the US and is therefore a sophomorically unapt grasping at straws.

More precisely, you are more interested in approximations of human rights for all in light of preserving the existence of Israel. Why should Israel exist if it must necessarily oppress the Palestinians in order to exist?

You have as much interest in his taint as I have in what Iran does or doesn’t fund.

See how that works?

It doesn’t need to oppress anyone. I’m interested in actual, achievable human rights. The existence of Israel doesn’t necessarily violate anyone’s rights. Humans are creative and can come up with peaceful solutions that guarantee rights for all, Palestinians, Israelis, Jews, Muslims, Christians, and anyone else who lives in the region. It’s obviously not easy, but it doesn’t require death and destruction.

Ah, so you don’t understand analogy. I did mention that “adverse possession is the civil version of taking land by conquest”, which is something humans have done throughout all of history. You might want to look at those two posts together.

If Iran was funding the leading politicians in my country, I’d probably take interest in that. YMMV.

The existence of Israel does necessarily violates the rights of the Palestinians in that to maintain its ethnocracy it must keep a majority of its population Jewish, with different levels of management of goyim minorities throughout Palestine.

I believe in this capacity of humans, as well.

You need to look at your response as a doubling down on your sophomorically unapt grasping at straws.

Israel’s appropriation of Palestine and oppression of the Palestinians was accomplished violently, not by civil contract or agreement.

Israel doesn’t necessarily have to be an ethnocracy. Better to work for change, not for more destruction.

Then hopefully we can stand together for peaceful change and not for destruction.

Yes sir.

Would a non-ethocratic Israel still be Israel, let alone Zionist?

If it’s forever a safe and welcoming place for Jews, sure.

So, you don’t understand analogy. Got it.

Yes, I’m fully aware that the modern state of Israel was forged by war and it’s borders were created by wars. The vast majority of modern nations owe their borders to wars of territorial acquisition. Mine certainly does, and i don’t plan to “go back” somewhere to cede my home to the first nations of North America. I also support human rights for everyone living in America.

(And like Israelis, i don’t have anyplace to “go back” to.)

Oh, I understand analogy, thank you very much.

Your apologetic mental contortions for the oppressive state of Israel are unsettling.

You’re right up there with Babale.

I ran a Hospitality Suite for a fan-owned science fiction convention this past weekend, and this is the first time I had to put a stop to a conversation (loud argument) about this situation. On one side was a vehement Jewish woman who fully supported all actions Israel has taken, and on the other side was anyone who dared to ask questions and/or dared to show the slightest bit of sympathy towards the people in that region. I tried to put a stop to that line of conversation and people with questions apologized and tried to change the subject, but the Pro-Everything Israeli woman just lowered her voice and continued to push her point, heavily. I asked her again to drop it, and she just lowered her voice again. That is the first time I ever had to boot someone out of Hospitality due to topic. Again-It wasn’t Vehement Pro-Israeli vs. Vehement Pro-Hamas, it was Vehement Pro-Israeli vs. anyone that didn’t take her side entirely.

Impossible goal because nobody gets a promise like that. It is like saying “When pigs fly.”

You show no signs of that.

Out of curiosity, what do you think Israelis who were born in Israel to people who born in Israel to people who fled to Israel as refugees ought to do?

I do care about Palestinian human rights. I am appalled by what the state of Israel is doing in Gaza, and by the continuing land grab in the West Bank. But i also care about the human rights of Israelis.

When did Israel ever agree to withdraw all settlements and recognize a free and independent Palestinian State?

Would a non-ethnocratic Pakistan still be Pakistan, let alone Islamist? How about Saudi Arabia? Iran? Somalia?
