With the audience I was with, yes, it was quite exciting.
Inna and I just catcalled through the show. “That woman, is she Usher?”, that sort of thing.
There was one commercial though… appeared around minute 9 (game time) of the third quarter, possibly had to do with some sort of chips? Anyway, could’ve sworn one of the women was named “Inna”, so I have to find it and confirm.
That was my reaction the first time I saw a Dude Wipes ad. I thought “Surely that’s a joke ad. That can’t possibly be a real product.” But they are. I’ve seen them in stores.
Yeah, starting with 2005, the run of Super Bowl halftimes was Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and The Who.
Yeah, starting with 2005, the run of Super Bowl halftimes was Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and The Who. Then they did Black Eyed Peas, which was terrible, so they jumped back to Madonna.
Lately they seem to be alternating between old and new, so I’d expecting a newer artist next year (maybe they’ll actually get Swift).
was that the dinamita one? that was for doritos. a play on the name of the snack, having the 2 women named dina and mita.
i liked the dunkin, horsies, the football teams with the names of birds acting like birds, with the tag of “aw, a rookie”., the 2 with marino, mayo cat, couch potatoes, and momoa.
Since my only interest in the SuperBowl is the ads, I generally wait until it’s over and then find them online. This year I decided to set my DVR to record it so I could hear Rena sing the National Anthem and then fast forward through the game and watch the commercial. Was a bit miffed when the recording stated just in time to hear her sing the last verse. Fortunately, the entire performance is available on youtube.
Whoever said upthread Temu was a spy organization, I totally think that too. I look at something on Amazon and 10 minutes I start getting Temu notifications, (which I can’t turn off ) for similar items.
I swear when one of the Ads was on TV, I got ads on my screen. Spooky.
I liked the the Flash dance ad for whatever that service is. I don’t know the guys name, I’ve seen him in something. I don’t remember who he is. Or the service they were advertising. I think it’s the same one Travolta sang a song from Grease .
Right, Great messages- the Real Jesus the one that the Right wing fundamentalist with their messages of hate hate hate have abandoned.
But the backers…???
Yeah, Temeu may be slightly better than Wish, but you are still gonna get really cheap chinese crap.
Wish was a company that came in loudly, then left with a whimper. I ordered three things from them once- A long t-shirt printed so it looks like chainmail, a damascus steel knife, and a set of leather bracers. The T-shirt was 100% poly, and two sizes too small, but otherwise looked pretty good. The leather bracers were fake leather. The damascus steel knife was a “tin” picture of a knife !
The Canadian channels no longer show American commercials during big events. Many of them were the usual mishmash of crap; nothing at all special. We were spared religious commercials and missed out on the Clydesdales and others. There were many terrible “we don’t have a script, this rando crap is the commercial” commercials. Plus the “shop like a billionaire” Temus and the CeraVe one, which I found as mediocre and uninspiring as when Michael Bublé hawks Bubly brand flavourless seltzer. Lots of you liked it though. Chacun son goût.
I like Usher but found the halftime show mediocre. Too many people, trying to include too many songs, and too many non-events on the periphery. It was fine, I guess, but dated and not memorable. I’d say the last really good show was the Jennifer Lopez and Shakira one. But I don’t look forward to these things with much anticipation, and could live without them altogether.
The impression I get is this is partly the “old-school” (“old” by the current culture standard) Christian Conservatives going “whoah, there! not like THAT!” at those who do not want to convert the sinners but to crush them, who would not mind starting an actual holy civil war.
The campaign’s website also insists the ads are not connected to an anti-gay agenda, explaining: “Let us be clear in our opinion. Jesus loves gay people and Jesus loves trans people.”
