My GP about 10 years ago looked at me curiously once when I was in his office for a routine checkup.
He promptly said, “Your left leg is half an inch shorter than your right.”
This explained my occasional bouts of back pain that I had had off and on throughout my entire adult life. I quickly got a lift for the left shoe, and that helped immensely. Note it affected my golf game back when I played, led to a reverse weight shift and thus a chronic slice.
I only just found out I have one leg shorter than the other, and I should have figured it out before. I know whenever I’d walk anywhere with my siblings who are all at least 4 inches taller than me*, if I tried to keep up at their pace, I’d get a really sore hip. Makes sense!
Not so weird: I have two cousins who are sisters, and one is 6’ and the other is 5’3".
As I mentioned upthread Italian Ice is a slightly Americanized version of Sicilian granita. It’s not ice cream.
Gelato in Italy can be a generic term for ice cream. In the US it’s a specific type of ice cream based on an Italian style. It has less butterfat and has much less air than regular ice cream which gives it a much different texture.
I consider myself a good parent and I feel like I’m a lesser parent than I wanted to be. Those are not mutually exclusive but you can only pick one.
For the political poll I believe that healthcare is the one issue that would have both the greatest immediate and also long term benefit for the largest amount of people. Looks like a lot of people agree.
This. There are several items on that list I would consider but right now universal coverage is an issue near and dear to my heart.
Regarding Masgouf, I voted never. Why? Because of Saddam? Well no, because of fish phobia. On a very rare occasion, I will eat fish, but I have to convince myself it isn’t what I think. But Masgouf looks like a dead fish on a plate. Not for me.
I read all about Masgouf and now I’m craving it. I love fish in general and for a fish dish to become a countries’ national dish, I assume it is assume.
I’d certainly try it. Food isn’t ruined just because someone i don’t like enjoys it. But whether i sought it out again would depend on how much i liked it the first time.
If they’re going to charge me $40 for a portion, I can’t afford it, so I’m not going to try it.
If they’re handing out free samples, or I can get a sample for a couple of bucks, I’ll definitely try it. The description sounds delicious.
Whether I’ll eat it again will depend on whether I liked it the first time; and also on whether I can afford it.
Whether Saddam liked it has nothing to do with it. Hitler, reportedly, liked dogs. That’s not going to stop me from having a dog. – if the stall’s being run by people trying to re-instate a Saddam-type regime, that would put me off, though. If it’s raising money to attempt do so by selling the fish, then I’m definitely not getting any, even a couple of dollar’s worth.
– I couldn’t make up my mind in the political wish list poll, so didn’t vote. I need at least three of those choices, and preferably more.
I’d try masgouf once and be open to having it again, if I liked it.
Sorry to see how the fish are treated while still alive, though. Although a carnivore, I don’t want the animals I eventually eat to suffer any more than is necessary.
