Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 1)

Looks like he drank hot chocolate and needs a napkin.

Sloth.

I was going to choose housecat, but then I realized that’s the lifestyle I’m living a lot of the time anyway. Maybe today I’ll get something done.

Gluttony

I was wondering though, of the question what animal would you be, if sloth is covered under rodents? Been awhile since school.

I was going to choose ‘large bird’ as one of my options; but then I realized one of the examples is flightless. So I switched that to ‘small bird.’ If I’m going to be a bird for a day, I want to fly!

I really don’t vote for candidates based on what age they are. Give me some additional info. – and for POTUS, there are serious advantages/disadvantages to either 35 or 80, taken on their own without additional info: 35 is highly unlikely to have enough experience. 80 may not have enough energy. Not voting in that one.

On the other hand:

Me, too! I can’t remember what triggered it recently, but I don’t like beards! There are almost none I like, and the bigger they are the worse they are. As for that mustache, my eyebrows went grey faster than my hair, and my hairdresser used to tease me about my invisible eyebrows. I had to use a brow colorant just so you could see them.

I voted for domestic dog, because dogs are more social, and I don’t want to poop in a box. I’d rather go out and walk around the neighborhood and make friends.

I voted, but I didn’t want to. Maybe I’ll go back and remove my vote. I was thinking what you were thinking.

All things being equal, for a President of my party who would advocate for policies I like, young is better than old. The two youngest Presidents, TR and JFK, are also among my favorites, as it happens.

Being a housecat in a loving home would be a pretty sweet gig. Among my favorite animals are bald eagles (majestic and far-sighted), cheetahs (elegant and swift) and beavers (industrious and talented), so my poll choices reflect that.

If I’m going to be a bird, I’d rather be a bird that likes water, such as a duck or puffin.

My first car was supposedly “sea green”. We called it invisible green because it was so dark, many people that it was black.

Now I’m thinking there should be a Mouse breath paint color. For breath they seem to only have Elephant or Mole. Missed opportunity, methinks.

My current car is galactic aqua mica, which is such a dark teal it looks black - or green in bright sunlight and blue at night under the lights in parking lots.

Sloths are xenarthrans, not rodents. Humans are more closely related to rodents than sloths are.

Three cars ago the paint color was Misty Beige. A cow-orker said it sounded like a Playboy centerfold model.

Ooh, i missed that. I, too, want to fly.
And swim.
And smell stuff like a dog can.

A Honda? I had that too (1988 Accord).

mmm

Yeah!

In the animal poll, I skipped one I wanted to vote for, random reptile because even more so than some of the mentions to date, it covers just too much range. I’d love to be a large crocodillian, or komodo dragon, but not interested in being a feeder anole even if well treated. It’s anti-reptile bigotry I say, because there were about 8 choices of different mammals!

I had many reservations about the age of the politician, but I ended up voting for 35 Democrat anyway. IMHO a part of the problem with our oft-elder statesman is that they are, even with best efforts and intents, living with a mindview that is very out-of-touch with the world they’re in right now, which has been changing dramatically. And that leaves out the class / wealth isolation that is also a norm in the ruling class.

So all being equal (and the poll is too simple to do anything else) I want a younger choice (regardless of political flavor), and until the Republican party repudiates the hate, intolerance, and Christian nationalism that has become the platform in it’s entirety, that rules them out.

When I was last shopping for a car, Mitsubishi had an orange color. I don’t know what they called it, bit it was the color of orange juice that had started to go bad.

ETA: looks like they still have it and it’s called sunshine orange

My RX-7 was a special edition that was the most awesome soft shade of gold with a very, very subtle greenish undertone.

Not sure what to do about same “upbringing”, let alone “culture”. There are things I’d like to be different, and others that I wouldn’t; but I don’t think they come exactly under either upbringing or culture.
