I also noticed brown was missing from the car color thread. I don’t actually own a brown car, but it’s a running joke that the Jalponik readership’s ideal cars is a brown, diesel, manual transmission station wagon.
D’oh!
I don’t know how much money I’ve wasted in – well, not 72 years; I didn’t have any money to waste for the first few. And in some cases I don’t know whether it was wasted. I bought a piece of farm equipment once that I hardly used for a few years, and thought I might have wasted my money on it – but I use it a lot now. I fairly recently bought another couple of pieces of farm equipment one of which is temporarily unusable and the other of which I don’t use much – but they may wind up being like that first one, and I really can’t tell now.
Also, if I bought something I didn’t need and that arguably wasn’t good for me, but I really enjoyed it, is that supposed to count as wasted?
– I’ve never watched (?) Golden Girls and so have no opinion.
I spent most of my money on hookers and blow, but wasted the rest.
Well, I was thinking more of fried chicken. But that is rather the catchphrase for it, isn’t it?
Same.
Boy are you missing out.
I wasted a lot of money in my 20s. I probably would have wasted more if I had more to waste. But I also spent money on prudent things, like education. I didn’t really get a grip on my spending until I started using YNAB in my late 20s. But I still waste money on delivery.
We weren’t allowed to leave campus, which is different from whether we did leave campus.
If we hadn’t been allowed to leave campus, there would have been at least 3 fewer fast food places and a Baskin-Robbins in the world
You started using your what now?
I have had a lot of disposable income, and I have a tendency towards impulse spending. I’ve bought a ton of things over the years that local charities have been more than happy to receive. I can remember bringing huge heavy bags of clothes to work when they were supporting the charity for women getting back into the workforce and needing a professional wardrobe.
You Need a Budget.
I’ve been using it for something like… I don’t know, fifteen years. I’m an evangelist. Completely turned my financial life around. At least now when I spend too much money on something, I know about it right away, and can usually course-correct.
Regarding voguing, I read the question and thought “Well, I know a meaning of voguing. But that’s thirty years old. I’m sure it must mean something different now.” But I checked and was surprised to find it still had the same meaning.
Same here
I’ve heard of the magazine, but other than that I was clueless.
I learned what it was when Madonna came out with her video in 1990 (which was just yesterday).
Yes, the Madonna song, plus the documentary Paris Is Burning.
Interesting that there’s such a sharp divide in the poll on driving!
I have social anxiety which also manifests when I’m driving. I worry overmuch about other drivers disapproving of my driving. But if I know where I’m going and have done the route a hundred times, I do okay. I get nervous at stoplights and making left turns since those are times other drivers have to wait on me and might judge me negatively. I’m also a hyper-vigilant driver perhaps because of an accident when I was young.
So… It’s emotionally exhausting to drive, especially in unknown territory.
But I enjoy cruising down the highway. I like listening to music or podcasts. I can get pretty blissed out when I know where I’m going. And I love riding shotgun in the car. All of the fun with none of the responsibility. My husband calls me a golden retriever.
The “vogueing” poll should have had “Verbing weirds language” as one of the options.
No, had no idea what it meant, and not sure that I do.
I have a deep and abiding dislike bordering on hatred for EVs. Not ipso facto EVs, as the basic concept is good enough, but I need buttons and levers and needles, not this damn touch screen lemme drive for you high tech bullshit without which you basically cannot buy an EV.
Oh, and we just need fewer cars on the road overall. Massively fewer.
Of all the EVs, the Mini looks like it’ll be the most fun to drive. If only it came in a convertible.
And now I want a leg of lamb.
