Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 1)

When I was working, wearing my ID badge was an absolute necessity. It granted me access into several areas that I needed access to during the normal workday. Without my badge I couldn’t even get to the floor I worked on.

My badge was always in one of two places: clipped to me or tucked behind my vehicle’s sun visor.

mmm

I wear a camisole with some support rather than a bra. When I go out, I put a shirt over that, so taking that shirt off doesn’t mean I’m nekkid.

I haven’t worn a bra since I started working from home. Before then it would depend on my mood, but I find walking around without any support is uncomfortable. (And I start singing "do your boobs hang low…)

I am probably the only person the country who loves the Red Sox and hates the Patriots. I am not a native New Englander, note, and got attached to the Red Sox during their tragic close calls in the 70’s and 80’s. But in football I had followed the Raiders for many years, and hated the outcome of the Tuck Game. The Pats subsequent various cheats and crap just turned me against them even more.

I can honestly say I have never had pumpkin spice anything. I don’t like pumpkin pie so I have no interest in trying anything similar

I don’t like pumpkin pie much and “pumpkin spice” doesn’t smell good to me.

My shoes come off immediately, along with the hat if I’m wearing one, then the keys and purse (god willing the former IN the latter, so I don’t lose them). When I had to wear a badge at work, it came off (and, again, ideally into the purse) at the same time. If it weren’t more uncomfortable for me to go without a bra than leave it on, that would be next, but alas. The glasses stay on every waking moment because I can’t see without them.

Happy when the Broncos win and when the Cowboys lose.

And “pumpkin spice” is just cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. I don’t like drinking it, but I’m a fan of those spices in desserts and breakfast breads.

And also ginger.

Yes! This is why I always look at the recipe when I’m making pies - I’m bound to forget something.

I like the spices in pumpkin pie okay, but i don’t love pumpkin. And the idea of putting pumpkin flavor into coffee is gross. But i don’t hate the spices.

I don’t buy pumpkin spice anything, but i don’t actually hate it.

And i only eat pumpkin pie if I’m hungry and that’s all that’s around. Which happens every couple of years, so I’ve had the stuff. But it’s not an annual thing for me, let alone something i look forward to. I do bake a pumpkin pie every year, since my son loves it. (And my mother used to like it, too.)

I like pumpkin pie (though I usually make it with other winter squash); but I don’t want it in my coffee. Nor do I want its spices in my coffee.

When I make pie, pumpkin or otherwise, I generally add individual spices, and often leave out the cloves and sometimes leave out the ginger; or use the ginger without all of the others.

The band poll needs an option for “key member’s lover, whom fans will blame for the band’s break-up.”

I like the spices just fine, and I even like them combined. However most products labeled pumpkin spice use proportions of those spices that smell bad in combination to me. Typically too heavy on the nutmeg.

I said I didn’t like, but honestly I’ve never tried a spiced pumpkin latte or whatever else they make this time of year. Maybe I would.

As my aunt once said after pushing away some overly-spiced peach cobbler at my favorite BBQ joint, “Some people think nutmeg improves a dish.” While I firmly believe that it’s difficult to have too much cinnamon or ginger, it’s best to use a light hand with the nutmeg and cloves. And, again, the best place for “pumpkin pie spice” is in a pumpkin pie or maybe a muffin, definitely not a coffee or a candle.

My energy level is due to my health; so I couldn’t vote in the one-choice version of that poll. Also, I’m not sure whether that or the weather belongs in the top position.

I’m in the generally okay with pumpkin spice category and will probably have such a flavored item this season. I do like pumpkin pie, and have a jar of Penzy’s Pumpkin spice mix that I use (mostly on sweet potatoes) and the occasional quick bread. Amusingly enough it also works reasonably well as a last minute sub for Chinese 5-spice powder if you find you’re out (to your embarrassment) that you forgot to replace your supply and need to improvise at the last minute.

I am not a huge fan of pumpkin spice latte though, in that I don’t find the coffee flavor and the rest mix particularly well. I don’t actively dislike it, but it’s just not a good mix for me. As for other items with the flavoring combo, it really depends on the quality of ingredients, the cheaper varieties always taste clearly artificial and are therefore ignored - but just about any baked good with real ingredients (waffles, pancakes, etc) taste good to me.

I’m reminded of a story where a three-year old was locked in a car. A crowd had gathered and was debating whether to break a window when a codger walked up, bent over to get the girl’s attention and mouthed some words. The kid rolled the window down, “What?”

“I said, roll the window down, darling.”

Interesting. Why a seemingly conference-distant team like the Cowboys, as opposed to Chiefs, Patriots, Raiders, Steelers, etc.?

FWIW, the Cowboys haven’t beaten the Broncos since 1995 - which is Dallas’ current-longest losing streak against any NFL opponent.

We’re doing huge house cleaning, remodeling, reorganizing, so 49 is a low number of tasks. However, none are being put off–they’re just sequenced according to timing urgency, deadlines, etc.

I’m not going to bother trying to get an exact count. That would just be another thing I had to do.

I get to some of them, eventually. Usually when I ought to be doing something else.
