Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 1)

I agree. I’ve always enjoyed my dreams (and once my heart stops pounding my nightmares, too). I remember my dreams pretty much every time I wake up and often in a lot of detail. But it fades really quickly.

I think of my dreams as little mini-movies with their own internal logic (which is often no logic at all). If I stop and think about it, I can almost always come up with the triggers for most events in those dreams.

I heard that they want buyers to sign a no-sell agreement (for a year) when they buy a new cybertruck. Is that enforceable?

I mean, Teslas require all sorts of software support. I’m sure they could just stop supplying that and eliminate the warranty in the event of an early sale if they wanted to. Though that doesn’t really answer your question, I’m just noting that they could make a resale in the first year very difficult for you.

I had snakes. At least it wasn’t the amphibious zombies again. I hate those guys.

I have this dream world that I visit almost every night. It’s basically a slightly surreal version of my waking one. Indifferent is more or less my feelings toward it, tho obviously part of my mind keeps insisting on going there so must find it appealing…

About 90% of the dreams I remember have some sort of frustration that I can’t overcome.

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one”

Obviously

Yeah, I assumed NO, since that is afaik a matter of law, but if yes- then NO!!

I have similar dreams.

I wonder why this one is so common.

mmm

All those vehicles might be large enough. I’d want one that was comfortable and safe and had decent mileage. There are good and bad choices in each of those classes.

Other. I would just opt for a Honda Odyssey or somesuch.

Definitely a mini-van. With only two kids, there will be plenty of room for luggage and travel entertainment.

Invariably those conversations begin with “I had this really weird dream last night…” and then they recount something that sounds quite dull and pedestrian to you.

Just watch out for the ones Nicholas Cage shows up in.

I think it’s a common format of a basic anxiety dream about not knowing what you’re doing; and so often takes that form because so many people have gone to school.

I haven’t had one of those in a long time; but sometimes have one in which I’ve entirely forgotton to do something crucial on the farm. Some people can’t find their workplace, or can’t find something they were supposed to do there. My mother used to have dreams in which my parents were putting on a weekend party at their place (fairly common, we lived a couple of hours from NYCity and my parents had a number of friends there; my mother did most of the necessary work) but she couldn’t find the necessary food or figure out the menus.

That would be an excellent choice. Roomy, comfy, easy to drive, not too hard to park.

I often (but nowhere near 90%) have dreams where I solve problems or overcome frustration. And it’s usually a stupid solution when I wake up and think about it, but it puts me in a good mood so that a real solution is within my grasp. It happens often enough that it’s a pattern I recognize, but it doesn’t happen nearly often enough to be relied upon!

I initially picked conversion van for the road trip, because in my Boy Scout days the van one of the dads had was definitely the most comfortable option… if you’re sitting in the back. But after further thought, the front seats of a van kind of suck, with that engine hump between the seats. I’m starting to lean more towards a minivan.

I’m surprised so many people picked SUV. Do they plan on driving off road during the trip? I’m thinking a lot of people don’t know the difference between an SUV and a crossover, and were actually thinking of a crossover when they picked SUV.

I made some assumptions for the travel with kids poll.

It’s obviously a family thing or I’d nope out. It’s also equally obviously not being paid for by me (for the same reasons). So I want something with the most options, thus, RV/Motorhome. Not a behemoth, but a motorhome is going to give space for the kids, space for me to be away from the kids, and a place for them to nap if/when they get tired, cranky, bored.

I didn’t know the difference, looked it up, and then voted for crossover. I dithered about the conversion van, because it would probably include a bathroom, which might be handy if it were a long way between rest stops; but it would probably also be less fun to drive, and almost certainly eat a lot more gas.

I considered “station wagon” but I’m not sure those even exist, any more; and the ones I remember were mostly unpleasant to drive.

And I think that people ought to be belted in seats while the vehicle’s moving, in any case; so as long as the seats are comfortable and adjust positions well, alternative things to lie down on probably don’t help much on what’s probably a one-day trip. If the intention’s to make more than one day out of it, if the money’s available, I’d want to spring for a motel, or a tent-style campground, instead of having everybody sleep in the vehicle.

This is why I picked SUV - it’s today’s station wagon, and a little higher profile. Has nothing to do with going off-road - many SUV’s have a 3rd row of seats and are going to be more comfortable and better performing than a conversion van, plus many also have 4wd for better traction in snow/ice. I don’t think there are any major car manufacturers building and selling station wagons any more, at least stateside.
