Anything running when I’m trying to sleep keeps me awake. Though my head has, thankfully, learned to ignore the refrigerator and furnace.
My favorite Alice in Wonderland character is Alice, from the 1976 porn film, played by the spectacularly beautiful Kristine DeBell.
Also the Black King, from the same movie.
Oddly enough, despite being a conservative traditionalist, I like several characters in the Tim Burton movie better than more conventional portrayals.
The Caterpillar
The Mad Hatter
The March Hare
I hated the Red Knight, but I loved his final scene.
Red Knight: “Kill me! Please!”
White Queen: “I don’t owe you a kindness.”
I just now learned “Second star to the right…” was originally from Peter Pan (never seen it, myself). Apparently it wasn’t even originally in the ST6 script, it was a last-minute change on the last day of shooting when the director happened to be in a cheerful mood.
My childhood Disney experience was primarily through Donald Duck/Uncle Scrooge comics. We didn’t really go to movies and my dad rented what he wanted at the video store so Disney animated stuff was never a thing we were into.
But, we went to the mall fairly frequently in the late 80s and our meeting place at a certain time to go home was always the bookstore. If I asked my dad for a Punisher or a Wolverine comic book, my odds of him saying yes and giving me a dollar bill for it were maybe 1/10, but if I asked for a Disney comic book, he always said yes. So now I still have an extensive collection of Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comic books that I still read through every now and then.
Didn’t Capt. Jack Sparrow say that too?
If I’m reading the question correctly, I’ll take $60,000 a year to do nothing.
Or don’t have echoic memories. I enjoyed Peter Pan, and also the Star Trek movie, but don’t recall that phrase.
Yeah. And then I’ll keep right on doing the job I like; but it won’t matter if I’m not making money at it.
– I know the phrase as from Peter Pan. But I don’t know whether I got it from the Disney movie.
I was using a fan, but it stopped working recently, so I found a similar video. It’s new age music
What I like about my video is it delivers what it promises. Just white noise. I listen to ISON sometimes when I just want to look at the city before falling asleep.
Good white noise. I’ve had too many white noise machines to have a pattern I spotted too quickly.
The music in my video is very similar to a tape I got in the 80s that I listened to to fall asleep.
No, his line was “Bring me that horizon.”
I need A/C here in SoCal. I want either/both CD player or satellite Sirius radio.
My bedroom has terrible airflow. I run a fan in the summer and a little space heater with a thermostat set at 60 to keep it from getting too cold mid-winter. It’s always dry here, so I have a cool mist humidifier for summer and a warm mist one for winter. All of these things are for another purpose, but the end result is that I’m now accustomed to a certain level of white noise while I sleep.
I’ll take the $60,000 with no strings; since we already have a livable amount for retirement, that’ll cover some luxuries and subtract some background worry about investments.
I remove my hearing aid when I go to bed. There could be a fan running or a train going by, I wouldn’t hear it.
I had a one million dollar bill with Clinton as the president. I was with friends at a bar, and asked the bartender/owner for change for the jukebox. He was furious, and kicked us out, accusing me of trying to pass counterfeit money. He seriously thought I expected 4 million quarters?!?!
I enjoy listening to the rain when I’m trying to sleep. And I’m okay with crickets or gentle snoring. And i slept fine when i lived in Manhattan, on Amsterdam avenue, But the noise of my fan annoys me. It’s part of the AC system, but I’ve been running it sometimes recently when i don’t need AC to force the air through a hepa filter. And during the day i don’t usually notice. But when I’m trying to sleep it annoys me, and i go turn it off.
Older generations of CPAPs were quite loud. So when I started using one 20-some years ago, I also started wearing earplugs to bed.
Now, my CPAP is so quiet you can barely even tell it’s on. But I’ve gotten so used to the earplugs that I can’t sleep without them. So, total silence for me!
@Velocity I assume “no strings attached” also means no taxes, so $60k tax free is the best deal
Re: illegal immmigration I pretended it said “in the UK” and voted I have expereinced negative effects.
