Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 1)

Thanks! I’m going to try this. The last time I made chopped liver, it was a recipe for a feast, I guess. I ate it twice a day for three days and there was still 75% of it left. The dogs, chickens, and I had the remains.

Enjoy!

I like whole livers, sautéd in butter with some onions. Or half livers wrapped with half a slice of bacon and broiled. Despite loving chicken liver, I’ve never really liked Jewish chopped liver. I think it may be over-cooked for my tastes. Or maybe it’s the egg, or maybe the onion isn’t cooked enough. I dunno. It was always served at family gatherings, and I never ate it.

:scream:

People are often shocked to see our African Grey holding and eating a chicken wing.

Chickens certainly aren’t vegetarians; but feeding any creature meat from its own species isn’t advised. There’s an increased risk of spreading diseases.

“None of the above” is usually a good option to include.

Agreed. I’ve been skipping a lot of polls lately, either because NOTA or NOYB.

I voted thigh as my favorite part of chicken to consume. But liver is certainly up there. So is skin. Unfortunately, my cholesterol says nope.

I picked the wing (a minority choice), but not for the (IMHO) overvalued buffalo wing craze.

Growing up, I was … not in the best relationship with my paternal grandmother, in that she was deeply disapproving of everyone, and my father, who grew up in that household, had made deliberate choices to NOT be like her or his father (who passed before I was old enough to know).

So, raising his kids with easy affection, marrying my mother (a gentle soul, too gentle for her MiL or my father), marrying a gentile for his second wife, and on and on and on.

BUT - despite her flaws, she always made amazing baked crispy chicken wings for dinner whenever we had to stay over with her, which I enjoyed and remained one of my favorites throughout life.

So it’s the one positive connection I have with her, AND crispy chicken wings are delicious anyway!

I selected all the movies. AMC Theatres isn’t really doing the Showcase, but Regal is doing all the nominees in blocks of three, and we’ll go see that.

I’ve visited all those countries except Turkey. I did connect in Istanbul airport a few times, but that doesn’t count.

I’ve visited all of the countries. My preference would be to visit a new one rather than re-visit, but in the age of COVID I’d prefer to re-visit Spain and walk the Camino, which is mostly an outdoor vacation.

I have not visited all those countries, but I’d like to do so. And more, so many more. But yes, I would happily go back and visit the countries I have been in before.

I was also surprised to see that Canada wasn’t on the list. People are missing out.

I’ve gotten as close to Turkey as Kos and Samos, but that doesn’t count.

Ephesus, near Kuşadası, Turkey is not to be missed if you like antiquities.

I like chicken and turkey skin very much - my favorite part of either bird - but I appreciate tenders for their convenience.

Tell me about it. And our Norwegian Blue has a thing for cheese!

Mysterious cave? Hold my beer.

Pretty much the same. How do you live near a cave and not explore it?

Do you not see the big sign saying TRAP?

Nuke it from orbit - it’s the only way to be sure.

Not a big fan of liver in any of its forms, but I do really like rumaki.

Chopped liver, rumaki, chicken liver yakitori–all good.
