Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

I have never looked down on anyone for their food choices. I happen to have a bland, simple palette but it never bothers me what people want on pizza or how they want their meat cooked.

I do not like any kind of seafood so anchovies have never been something I wanted to try.

I have branched out in recent years to try new foods on vacation with family or friends but left alone I revert to my own simple food choices.

Foghorn Leghorn "It was a joke, son, a JOKE!".

But I am adventurous in my eating - life is too short not to be. However, I have found I hate very spicy hot (as in hot pepper) foods.

I assumed it was a joke but it’s always hard to be sure with just the written word!

I am just not that interested in food and see it as more of a daily chore than an adventure. It could be that digestive issues come into play. For me bland is safer.

That said, I have family who have introduced me to some of the more adventurous side of food and I have participated.

Bon apetit!

Yeah, i discovered I was lactose intolerant by some very nasty gas. I now take probiotics and can eat cheese with no issues. But I dont drink milk anymore- just in case.

And my fault- i didnt use an emoticon.

It’s great that you found both a diagnosis and a solution with the lactose intolerance. Cheese is a joyful indulgence.

I have read about about probiotics and wonder if it could possibly help my situation.

I dated a guy who liked anchovies on his pizza, but only if there were also jalapeños.

I did the “other” anchovies option.

I’m sure I’ve had them, but damned if I remember if I like them.

mmm

When we get pizzas at work, I always get an anchovy pie. Yummmmm!

I like pickle, pepperoni and jalapeno pizza so what do I know?

Even though I love fish, I’m pretty salt-averse so anchovies don’t appear in my diet, though I have tried them. When making pizza at home I frequently use chopped whiting(or sand trout, or black drum, etc.) fillets along with crabmeat and shrimp on my delectable seafood pizza.

Regarding Rolf Harris, I would expect knowledge of him is at least as high in the UK as Austrailia, While he is Austrailian he moved to the UK at the age of 22 and spent most of his life there and and majority of his TV and film appearances were on British shows. His crimes were committed in the UK and he died in the UK.

I knew Rolf Harris first for “Tie Me Kangaroo Down.” I then learned about his crimes later.

I’ve never had anchovies on a pizza, and the only place that has them doesn’t sell it by the slice. I’m not quite willing to invest in a whole pizza - not while there’s Italian sausage out there. Anchovies are great in leg of lamb, cesar dressing, and Worcestershire sauce, where they provide a wonderful salty/umami flavor. Is that the same for pizza?

Rolf Harris is the only criminal I didn’t know. I know at least what kind of criminal all the others were.

I love anchovy on pizza and have since I was a child. Also love Hawaiian Pizza. I wouldn’t want either all the time, but I love them when I have them. I put anchovies in my pasta sauce and make English muffin anchovy pizzas.

@puzzlegal OK, understood. I see that an option for “I’ve eaten them sometimes and liked them” would have helped.

@Maus_Magill yes anchovies have that salty/umami goodness on pizza

@Thudlow_Boink LOLing at anchovy pizza being an urban legend. Here’s a place that offers it, supposedly the best pizza restaurant in the area: Umberto’s , scroll down and it will show anchovy topping.
Strangely enough, the menu for Andy’s in DC, where Kamala Harris supposedly ordered her anchovy pizza, doesn’t list anchovies.

My first experience with gout was after eating anchovies on a pizza, with more anchovies on a salad. Anchovies are a common gout trigger.

Generally you are safe from people poaching your pizza then.

Albert, Freddie, BB… all different, all good.

I prefer Burger King . . . but the friendly singing one from the 1980s, not the silent creepy one from the 2000s.

After watching Citizen X I’ll never forget Chikatilo.

I also sometimes like anchovy on pizza, but don’t always want it. I see nothing wrong with Hawaiian pizza as a concept. It’s only the execution that’s often bad: the ham’s too bland or not browned enough for me; the pineapple is not caramelized. I like it with a sprinkling of fresh cilantro. Yum.

Completely agree.
