Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

For hair washing, I’d say I shampoo every other day. When I was doing every single day, my hair, even with the 2-in-1 conditioner, started feeling a bit brittle? But if I go for more than 2 days without washing it, it feels gross and greasy. So every other day generally works. Sadly, the choices were between every day, and frequently don’t wash, so I left it with frequently.

I’d say if you shower daily, and wash your hair every other day, you frequently shower without washing your hair.

I don’t shower daily. Two, maybe three times a week. Shampoo each time.

Then you always wash your hair when you shower.

The poll wasn’t about how often you wash your hair, it’s about how often you shower without washing your hair.

Regarding drinking a glass of milk being normal or not, I said “something else.”
I don’t think it’s strange per se, but I haven’t done it since I was a kid, and I haven’t seen anyone over 13 do it that I can recall. At least not for several decades. So, it’s not bizarre, but in my world, it’s exceedingly rare.

Depends where in the world you live. In East Asia, most adults lack the ability to digest milk, and would experience digestive distress by drinking a glass of milk. That’s also common in West African and Mediterranean populations. I imagine that an adult drinking a glass of milk would be considered very strange in China.

My oldest is 21, and our milk consumption increases by 100% (seriously - I’ve tracked) when he’s home.

I have a glass of milk with breakfast every day. I like it, plus its Vitamin D in the winter.

Being the one (apparently) Curta voter… sort of similar, I guess, except that even if I do not use it regularly there is just “something” about it that makes it, like… my most prized possession so I do not regret it. It feels very intuitive and functional in a way I had not imagined for all the years I lusted after one when I thought of it as just “neat mechanical computer.” At least, as a millennial who always had electronic calculators around, more intuitive and functional than my E6B.

I have milk in the house for cereal from time to time (right now, as I started exercising again in the morning and find I need some breakfast contrary to my normal habit), but I normally drink a glass of milk only for 3 separate reasons, 2 of which probably don’t count.

  1. Cold weather - in the form of hot chocolate.
  2. Cold weather mostly - in the form of a steamer (hot/frothed milk with almond or vanilla extract normally)
  3. Any time I’m indulging in a luxurious baked good (cookies, brownies, etc) a glass of milk works in a way a glass of water just won’t. But both combined is a lot of calories, so increasingly rare.

Now stop that! You’re going to convince me to buy one!

I don’t drink cow milk. We have alternative milks that I use in cooking and my gf uses in smoothies. Drinking a glass of milk seems weird to me.

My shower routine is always bar soap lathered head to toe. I’d never shower without washing my hair. That would be like showering without washing my armpits.

Does a latte or a hot cocoa count as a glass of milk?

I love dairy milk, and have it every day on my cereal. I sometimes drink a nice cold glass of milk, too. But not very often. I’m much more likely to drink it hot and flavored with chocolate or coffee.

I rarely drink milk; but I took the question to mean whether I think it’s strange for anybody, including somebody other than me, to drink milk. Which I don’t.

I drink my coffee black, and do not do hot cocoa, but I’ll occasionally have a White Russian using soy milk. I wouldn’t consider a White Russian a glass of milk.

Even thinking about drinking a glass of milk makes me shudder.

That’s how i took it, too. And for what it’s worth, there are things i do that i think are strange.

But it would be unusual, not strange, for me to drink a glass of milk. And i think it’s pretty common for US kids to do so, and unusual but not strange for US adults to do so (without the coffee. Lattes are incredibly popular and are mostly milk.)

Yeah. I drank milk routinely as a kid. Either the milk has changed (since the 1950’s/60’s) or my tastebuds have. I suspect it’s some of both.

I drank my share of milk as a kid and teenager, and some as an adult (even out of the jug a few times - no need for a glass!). But a few years ago I switched to non-dairy milk, mainly for morning cereal - but I never have just a glass of the stuff. I can’t remember the time I just drank a glass of any milk.

I find it so odd that drinking milk is fine for children but not for adults unless mixed with chocolate, coffee, cereal, or similar. I like milk! I rarely drink juice or wine, so my liquid intake is almost entirely diet soda, milk, or water.

First shower of the day I wash my hair; when there’s a need for a second shower of the day I usually don’t use shampoo just water unless I was really gross, like forgetting to put my hood on in Goose Shit quarry. I consider just getting all sweaty something far less than really gross.

Go to breakfast is cereal in milk, yes, I drink the milk out of the bowl when I’m done.
Earlier this week they had a shitton of carbs at the breakfast, bagels, donuts, pastries, along with hot beverages, sodas, juices, water, & milk bottles. I grabbed a milk for the protein to offset all of the carbs that I had consumed.
A cold chocolate milk is a good post-workout recovery drink; rehydrating, filling, carbs & protein.
