Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

In one of Tom Clancy’s novels, a sailor is contemplating his chore list. He comments, “On a ship, painting never begins or ends. It just is.”

Same here. I play 5e mostly, with some obscure superhero game as a fill in. I also buy or get as presents board games. But really, in the big picture, in person table top gaming isnt really expensive for most.

Now sure, we know that one guy who gets every cool game from Kickstarter- with every supplement, and who has filled up an entire room with game he will never play- but that is an outlier.

I used to go to Cons- I could even sometimes get in free- but not after Covid.

Same here. I get sets sent to me to review, and i give them out as presents.

Yeah. One of my friends has iirc nine horses now, several of which are rescues that are not riddent. her vet bills alone are crazy.

At the start of WW2, the US Navy had excess paint chipped off many ships as it was a fire hazard. Apparently some paint was like 6 inches thick? or thicker than we would have thought anyway.

I don’t have a crippling dice addiction. I can stop any time I want.

I have no idea whether that’s a fair price. I do know that I can’t afford it.

Why am I only picking 2 continents? I’ve been to more.

Continent poll is broken, only allowing two choices. It might not be too late to edit. Alternatively, i suggest closing it and starting over.

Yeah, whether it’s a “fair price” or not depends (the way I think of it) on information we don’t have, such as what it costs the pizza provider to make the pizza (and cover their various expenses) and how that price compares to other pizza and comparable options available in the area.

I do know it seems like a lot to me, since I can get a pizza for significantly cheaper than that, so I probably would only pay that much for a pizza if it were really good or special somehow or if there were extenuating circumstances.

Thanks. I had it set correctly, but the power has been flickering.

Is Australia psrt of Oceania?

I am only paying $31 for that pizza if it is absolutely stacked with great toppings and is some sort of low-cal whole wheat organic crust thing.

That’s more than i would pay for a pizza today in my home town, but i dunno, if i were in Iceland and that’s what it cost, i might buy it. If the price of cheese spiked, i might pay that much. What’s “fair”?

Depends on what the toppings and if the crust is fresh and made in-house.

Yes, it is.

Edit: I had to change my vote in that poll, when I discovered that Hawaii, which is part of Polynesia, is part of Oceania, as well.

A really gourmet pizza? Maybe. But not for a standard delivery pizza, even here in CA is it like $13 at Pizza hut.

I’m not sure if Bonaire should be considered part of South America. It’s only 50 miles from Venezuela, but it’s not part of the mainland so I didn’t count it.

I clicked all the links and was able to view the full article.

I rarely read CNN even free, but someone’s gotta pay for reporters and editing and broadcasting. And i use ad blockers. If you like CNN, consider supporting it.

Domino’s here, for a 16" pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms is 31.95 CHF. Which is about $37.00 USD. So $31.00 USD is cheap.

And that’s the take away price.

I read BBC much more than CNN. I might end up paying for BBC, if it gets to that point, but I doubt I would ever pay for CNN. If I’m going to pay for US news, I’d rather support the newspaper from my home town.

Oops. Gotta go change mine as well.

A pizza and starter salad at the place near us we like is always about $43 or so (plus a tip). I assume the pizza portion is over $35. I don’t know what you guys think a reasonably priced pizza would cost, but I would be surprised to find one under $30.

I just went to our local pizzeria’s order site, and all the large “gourmet” pizzas are $17.99, including the 4-meat meat lover’s pizza (oh wait, I did more searching, the steak tip pizza is $19.99).
