Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

The pasteurized product cheese food? (not cheese) or the actual American cheese? :grinning:

I checked my Apple health app and apparently I’m averaging about 1,500 steps a day. I used to do at least 5 times that until my current back issues flaired up. Hopefully I can get back to that.

If by “do it all again” you mean re-living my life exactly as I already have, then nah.

But I went with a looser interpretation that says I can go back to a time when I was younger and make my own choices from there, in which case, heck yeah!

What’s the alternative to “do it all again”?

And yeah, can I choose to do some portions again and not others? can I choose to do some things differently?

Didn’t vote. Although, probably, yeah. I mean, I’m not in any hurry to quit doing it now.

I wouldn’t change a thing about my life so far, save one: I wish I hadn’t waited until I was 50 to get treated for depression.

Is this meal lunch or supper? How hungry am i? If it’s supper, I’ll usually start with 2 and then decide to take a third slice, and sometimes regret it. If it’s lunch, I’ll probably also start with 2, but may not finish the second slice.

If I’m ordering a pizza I’m eating it. Why I ordered a 16" pizza is a mystery, but I don’t order pizza to waste it. (And allowing a pizza to go cold is wasting it, no eating substandard pizza the next morning).

Agreed, why by a pizza for 4 if I am not sharing it with anyone and I agree cold (or reheated) pizza tastes terrible. Having said that the situation could come up if you were say at an all day conference and for lunch 16" pizzas are laid out buffet style each cut into 8 slices, how many do you take.

As an aside the largest pizzas generally available in the UK are 14".

I’ve been alive long enough to know that the third slice of pizza tastes like regret and bad decisions. Besides, you cannot beat cold pizza for breakfast.

That’s what I was thinking, also.

I voted based on assuming that I’m really hungry. If I’m less so, I’d eat less.

Re-heated pizza the next day or two isn’t as good as fresh; but it’s good enough that I’ll eat it.

I am just chiming in to cry HERETIC!!!

Reheated pizza isn’t good in the same way that fresh pizza is, but it is certainly just as good. Leftover pizza is a wondrous treat: my favourite is lukewarm (microwave just enough for the cheese to consider changing its form). I used to regularly order the largest possible size of pizza just to have such leftovers (and still endure mockery because the box had to go in the flatbed of the truck, being to big for the cab. Some people thought I was crazy).

There are also fancy ways to reheat pizza—reheat in a covered pan with a little water at the bottom—for those who want a closer-to-fresh taste.

That’s how i interpreted it, as I’m in this situation a few times a year, so it’s a very familiar situation. And yes, there are usually types of pizza i like.

Eh, leftover pizza is edible if I’m hungry. But i don’t love it

Talk about heresy! Pizza is ready to eat when I bring it into the house. The other joy of bringing in a pizza is I don’t need to cook or clean up afterwards, just toss the box/paper plates in the trash. It’s got a good carb/protein balance, as well as grains, dairy, (optional) vegetables, & let’s not forget the other major food group…grease! Nor knife or fork required, just a hand. It’s just about the perfect food!

Reheated in the microwave is okay, but it’s better to throw a slice on a piece of tin foil & put it in the toaster oven, but do actually pull out a pan? To heat leftovers that I didn’t have to cook or wash dishes in the first place? That’s high crimes & felonies!!! High crimes & misdemeanors gets you impeached; however, with high crimes & felonies, we go straight to the punishment phase, & let’s just say it’s not something nice like solitary in a SuperMax!

For pizza, fried chicken, and breakfast sausages, cold is much better than re-heated.

As to the room, if the charges are the same for a party of three- then 50/50. But if there is an upcharge, then 66/34 or something,

Heating up leftover pizza poll is missing a “leftover…pizza?” option.

Assume you have some leftover pizza for whatever reason, even if you normally wouldn’t. I want the poll to be about how you would reheat it, not about whether or not you would have leftover pizza.

And the three of you who voted in the first approximately three minutes the poll was live, I edited it to fix a typo in one of the options, which wiped out your votes. You will need to vote again.

If I were to get my own room, I’d pay the same amount as the couple. So if we share, it’s fair to split 50/50.

Leftover Pizza and the prior poll:

I’m a mutant who doesn’t like pizza, so didn’t vote. I did vote for air-fryer for reheating, because my wife swears by it (being a big fan of the stuff!). She’s done toaster ovens, microwaves, even a skillet once (she said it was good, really crisped the crust, but too much work) - but she swears the air fryer is the perfect combination of warming and drying for soggy-from-the-fridge pizza.

Sharing a room -

My wife and I have travelled several times with a single friend who would split a two-be room with us - so direct experience with this. Normally, we split the bill for the hotel 50/50, but I voted for the 60/40 or some other compromise option, because we normally would pick up a larger share of our shared travel expenses. For example, most of the drives we took our car (small SUV vs a 2dr coupe just makes more sense) and even if we split the gas, well, we’re the ones driving and getting the car wear. So, it’s more than just the total costs of the hotel being factored in.
