Trump eats pizza with a knife and fork and still managed to win somehow.
I did seriously think about including an “other” option, but since I was planning on doing a second runoff poll between the top two results, if “other” won the first poll it would be meaningless to include it in the second poll unless we all agreed on what sandwich was meant by “other”, which would require getting everyone to post what sandwich the meant in the the discussion thread. And quite frankly that sounds like a real nightmare.
Also, I don’t really think of the Reuben as regional. Yes, I said the same thing about the French dip but I still included it in the poll. It’s a double standard, I know.
I saw the Grateful Dead in concert 3 times, all of them at Kiel auditorium in St. Louis. Twice in 1979, once in 1981. Some of the Dead’s most devoted fans live in St. Louis.
I never saw the Dead live, but I turned down the opportunity on, at least, three occasions. I regret that only because I’ve come to learn that the experience was far more than the music, that by itself, never interested me.
I know I was at at least one Dead concert. I can’t remember whether I was at more than one.
I came into the Dead pretty late in their career; my first show was on October 3, 1987, a day that changed my life. I don’t have an exact count but I’m pretty sure I saw them about 80-90 times after that.
Never saw the Dead. To me, the most interesting fact about them is that Jerry Garcia died on the same day as the Netscape IPO, as clear a changing of the guard as I have ever seen.
If you can remember, you didn’t do it right.
I’ve never cut pizza with scissors myself, but my sister has.
I’ve never used scissors to cut pizza that I can recall, but I have used scissors to cut bacon. My cast iron pan is too small for a whole strip of bacon, so I use kitchen shears to cut the strips of bacon in half before putting them in the pan.
I have always used kitchen scissors to cut the kind of frozen pizzas that do not come with a circle of cardboard (for example, Totino’s).
There’s a local restaurant with one of those fancy high-temperature Neapolitan ovens that serves its pizza with scissors to cut it. It’s delicious. I can’t recall using scissors other than there, but they work fine.
I absolutely consider garlic a vegetable when I make sopa de ajo with two whole bulbs of garlic to a little more than a liter of broth. Plus almost enough paprika to make paprika a vegetable too.
Garlic scapes are inarguably a vegetable.
I defrost the frozen thighs. And I used regular scissors to cut my pizza, when my slicer broke.
Two places argue over the “Original” one used Whiz- the other provolone.
I worked at one GD concert as security and was given a pass for the next. I like their music, but I am not a ‘deadhead”.
It’s pretty clear that Pat’s was the original. However, as I stated above both Pat’s and Geno’s offer the choice of cheese including whiz. If you don’t believe me both have websites and online menus.
Neither have the best one but both are serviceable.
When I was in college, there were a lot of huge Grateful Dead fans there. I wasn’t one of them.
Why do you defrost the frozen thighs? Surely the fresh ones will lose more quality in a couple of days than the frozen ones.
I don’t think I’ve ever cut pizza with scissors, but that seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do, especially if you don’t have a suitable knife or dedicated pizza cutter. I use kitchen shears for similar tasks.
I saw The Dead once when they came to my college. I actually remember the absolute insanity of college response more than the concert. I went to The University of Maine, in Orono, which is a little town outside of Bangor. The college freaked out when the dedicated Deadheads started rolling in, all the flower-power type vans, buses, and cars. They mandated that dorms be locked at ALL times (not a thing in Maine in the 80s), Admin buildings were locked, classroom buildings had extra security, and they had security vehicles and town cops patrolling everywhere. So silly. Free-love-and-ganja-hippies, yes, but not ax murderer rapists. I had a great view of the arena and parking lot from my dorm, it was pretty entertaining!
