Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

In the trail mix poll, I meant to include a “no thank you” option.

Let’s consider the “some other” option to include none of the above.

mmm

Well I like those dried pineapple and dried passion fruit pieces in my trail mix, which were not listed in the poll. I suppose since I already picked four other things having both is not allowed, so I choose the pineapple as my something else.

Trail mix is to drop along the trail so you can find your way back, right?

I hate trail mix; any trail mix. I’ll eat a handful of one thing & then a handful of another but the triple combo of different shapes, textures, & flavors all in one bite in something I don’t like.

Did you mean it’s something you don’t like?

I came here to praise the MMM trail mix shop. I think i want to commission a few of your trail mixes.

Shoppe.

mmm

You could request the “trail mix” be just one thing. Maybe a bag of peanuts.

but then is it a mix?

Salted peanuts, M&M type candy (British Smarties are the best), golden raisins, dried blueberries. Maybe dried cranberries.

Yogurt covered blueberries, please.

Iztaccihuatl - the third highest mountain in Mexico, a bit over 17,000 feet. I climbed in 1999, when the glacier was more intact than today. Worst headache I’ve ever had – but exhilarating.

Drove to the top of Pike’s Peak and hiked to the top of Mt. Whitney. Both 14,000ish.

Back in June I was in Ecuador, and was at the trailhead for the Cotopaxi base camp (Ecuador’s second highest peak). And when I got there I realized I’m definitely not fit enough to do that hike. The parking lot where I was is somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000 feet. For those who actually make it up to the base camp, it’s at just under 16,000 feet.

Mount Rainier/Paradise which is about 5400 feet elevation.

Oh, i looked up the heights of the cable car near Mt Blanc and the hike i took near Salt Lake City, but i went as high as you can drive up Pikes Peak as a kid. Maybe that’s the highest I’ve been.

Living in Colorado Springs, I’ve of course been up Pike’s Peak (14k, mostly walking around though), and most of the ski resorts I went to when I was younger (can’t justify the costs these days) are 12k for much Higher levels of activity. And I lived on-and-off in Leadville CO (12k) for years during the summers.

Mount Whitney, IIRC.

The highest location I’ve ever been to was Jungfraujoch, a train station and tourist attraction in the Swiss Alps, in between the peaks of the Jungfrau and Mönch mountains. It’s at 11,362 feet above sea level, and is the highest-elevation train station in Europe.

I’ve hiked Whitney, but not Pike’s Peak. It was 14,495 when I hiked it.

Gonna get crowded with all of us atop Mt. Whitney!
