Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

Yeah. It’s huckster-speak, like “gay-ran-tee”.

I’ve been to the ER twice.

The first time, I’d had a pylonidal cyst removed, and the site had become infected. I’m still not sure which was worse: the infection or when Dr Frankenstein said, “And now we’re going to push the infection out.” Meanwhile the rat bastard in the bed next to me was getting morphine. My father drove me. The triage nurse invited me to sit down. I declined.

The second time: I had really cut my hand resetting a special effect at the theater, which involved glass. The TD and I (running crew chief) sat down and wrote up the protocol for resetting the effect. Step one was, “Put on gloves!” Guess who had grown cocky. Guess who had to have someone bandage up his hand. The next morning, I noticed it was still bleeding, so I headed to the ER. It was too late for stiches, so they redressed it and gave me some antibiotics and a tetanus shot. Now I have a cool scar on my thumb.

I use the ‘wine’ pronunciation only for emphasis. Otherwise it’s ‘win’.

Well, sir, there’s nothing on earth
Like a gen-u-wine, bona fide
Electrified, six-car monorail!

I’d rather sleep on the floor if the bed option is a twin, unless the other petson is someone I’m friendly with.

I don’t want anybody’s feet in my face. Leopold and Molly Bloom slept like that, but they’re fictional.

When my husband and I were friends and didn’t know we were in love with each other, and he crashed in my sublet in college, we slept like that with his feet in my face, which seemed like logistically the best way to fit in the bed. I guess that’s how I’d do it because it feels less intimate.

A while back I surprised my wife with front row ballet tickets in Boston for Cinderella, I think those were about $200 each at the time.

Funny, I’ve spent a lot more on sports tickets, but I haven’t bought entertainment tickets very often on the secondary market.

My wife and I spent $1500 each for three days at 2016’s Desert Trip in Coachella (Dylan, Stones, Neil Young, McCartney, Roger Waters, & The Who) so I divided that by three and selected $500-$750.

Note the poll description, though.

Yeah. I saw that. That’s why I divided it by the number of days. Would it not count if I just paid that much for one day? (which was an option for those shows)

Eh, I dunno. Wasn’t my question! I’d accept it if it were, though.

I bought four tickets for U2 at the Sphere for $400 each face value. I then sold two of them for $600 each. So basically my wife and I saw the show for $200 each.

I still feel like that’s a hell of a lot of money for one concert, but it was a great show.

We had people sleeping at the firehouse this weekend due to the storm & what would have obviously been delayed response times due to needing to dig out your car & scrape the ice off the windshield before being able to get on the road. We ended up with more bodies than beds & I was shocked when two guys said they were sharing a bed & then I saw them in opposite directions; I don’t want some stinky toes near my nose!

Do the people you know not wash?

The “Leaving the U.S.” poll leaves out the “Neither good nor bad, it’s their own business” option.

Also “left with no regard for Trump, but staying out because he has transformed America in such a way that it’s not worth coming back.”

And also, the “it has both good and bad aspects, like everything else in life” option.

I congratulate my friends who have moved

So far, it looks like I have spent the most for tickets. I don’t tend to plan ahead, or seek out bargains. One day we found ourselves in Las Vegas for an evening, and decided to see Elton John. We went on line and bought great tickets for a hefty price. I’ve done similar things in other places. U2 at the Sphere, for instance. We bought the tickets 24 hours before the show. We don’t see a lot of groups or theater, and when we do, I don’t mind paying a premium. We did look at Super Bowl tickets this week for the upcoming game. Price was crazy, especially for the better seats. I don’t think we would have gone regardless, but price did factor in.

It’s probably good for the people who left. It’s bad for the USA, residents thereof included. It may or may not turn out to also be bad for the rest of the planet.
