It’s one of the fascinating things around here. We have much we can share, but there’s always something that is more obscure than we realized. I’ve never heard of that group (I assume it’s a musical group).
Ohhh. Muppets. I would not have guessed that.
Yeah, and that’s a helpful answer, because I’ll know for next time.
Of course underwear goes in the bottom drawer. It is right there in the name.
But all of them say “drawers”.
Under where?
My favorite kid joke:
Me: What do you want for Christmas under there?
Kid: Under where?
Me: Ha ha ha ha ha, you’re getting underwear for Christmas!
(kid looks at my like I’m lame)
mmm
What is annoying me- the media. Not Fox, I never watch it.
The media- which after all sorta kinda leans left - has been working as hard as possible to get trump re- elected.
Endless stories about minor crimes- since violent crime is down- this leads into the GOP Big Lie of "Crime is Out of Control.
Endless stories about fast food ect prices being high- but never mentioning out of control profit taking and CEO salaries- this leads into the GOP Big Lie- the economy is bad.
Even NPR keeps making Old Biden jokes- altho trump is almost as old in years and much older in the way he acts…
Yeah, I know- trump makes a lot of headlines. But why do they want trump back in office?
They don’t care who is in office, they will promote whomever delivers the most eyeballs.
I suspect you and everyone else knows the answer to this, even if we don’t want to admit it. Simply CNN (and most of us posters at one time or another, and certainly most people in general) chase the short term (clicks/money/advertising) and figure the long term will take care of itself.
CNN, while IMHO much better than Fox, is more about sales (I mean, FFS, the sheer number of “articles” on best products for XYZ that infect a “news” site is baffling) than the good of the nation. And that more or less makes sense, it’s not like they’ve government funded, they’re for profit after all.
It’s times like this I bemoan our national underinvestment in programming including news. I mean, for sure, the BBC has massive internal issues that they don’t want to admit, but it’s better than what we get most of the time.
So, as @Fear_Itself pointed out while I was typing this, they’re being true to their nature - if it bleeds, it leads, and Trump is a bleeding, infested, pus filled canker that we can’t stop poking.
Such utter nonsense. While reporters et al may have somewhat non-RW attitudes due to being edumacated, the industry itself is, well, industrial, generating basically all its revenue from advertisers, which are typically not “left”-ish on aggregate. The media makes money by feeding eyeballs and earholes to the ad revenue machine in a manner that is satisfactory to the advertisers (i.e., does not harm them). In a mechanical sense, the media cannot survive with a significant leftward lean.
As far as working to get Individual-ONE re-elected, the media is really only interested in portraying the game (election) as being competitive, in order to maintain the attention of its product (subscribers) so that the revenue stream continues to flow for them. Ideology is largely irrelevant to the suits.
325 annoyances so far and I’m please to report that not a single one of you has a problem with Spam.
mmm
The “word” “ect” is the thing that has been annoying me most lately.
I love it. I’m having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam spam and spam!
Every time I make Spam Musubi my gf makes snide comments about Spam. Every time I make Spam Musubi there aren’t leftovers.
I sometimes enjoy spam, the canned pork product. And it has never bothered me when i didn’t seek it out.
Am I supposed to assume that there’s a train station near my house, and decent public transportation at the place I’m going to?
If so, definitely train. If not (as is the current situation), I’m going to have to take the car. (There isn’t an airport or a bus station anywhere near me, either; plus which, by the time one adds modern wait times and airport hassle, for 300 miles the car’s liable to be faster and lets me bring whatever I want with me. And some buses give me carsickness. And I’m not physically up to biking that far. But I like trains.)
I chose “car”, since to get to an airport/train/bus I’d already be driving a considerable distance.
Plus, it’s nice to have a car on arrival without renting one.
