Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 3)

Yip yip yip yip!

I respond to cats with cat sounds, and whistling and clicking, and also talk to/with them. I don’t confine myself to English because they have equal facility in other languages. Some cats appreciate the songs I write and sing for them, while others do not. Saigon enjoyed “Saigon, Saigonator, she’s a kitty cat, meow” to the tune of the university fight song. Jet was less enchanted with “K-k-k-kitty and the Jet” (Elton John).

Good points. But I just skip over them as some are the kinds of things you dont want to share, or may lead to doxxing. Thus i try to not participate in them, as some are too personal- colonoscopy, medical exams, flossing, close to a park, pain site, finances, gone to an ER as a patient, and others. Sure he sometimes makes one of his polls NON-public, but I dont want to have to check before I post on every one of his.He is almost the only one that usually makes his polls public.

No Dr. Bunsen Honeydew on the muppet poll?

Other omissions from the list, though I can understand why they were omitted, because they’re arguably not prominent enough:
Zoot
Robin
Dr. Strangepork
Guy Smiley
Lew Zealand
Crazy Harry

And I kind of wish we’d seen more of Andy and Randy Pig, who once referred to Sandra Bullock as “Sandra Buttocks.”

One of my faves.

And Marvin Suggs, master of the Muppaphone.

(Ow ow ow OWW!)

I don’t post many polls, but i usually intentionally decide whether or not to make it public. You should look at whether it’s public, or think about the topic, rather than decide based on the poster. Some day you are going to make a mistake if you just look at the poster.

True. Good point. I do try to check, but some polls look so fun and have so many choices it is easy to forget.

I just now got the allustion to Dr Strangelove.

I speak English and Spanish.

I have a BA in Spanish. I did everything from read novels to write extensive essays in the language. At one point I worked customer service for a nonprofit consumer credit agency and took Spanish language calls about 30% of the time.

I haven’t actually had a Spanish conversation in years, but it’s still with me in spirit. I understand most spoken Spanish that I run across. And sometimes I dream in it.

I’m not going to rank “ancient” against “prehistoric” because for me the age of “ancient” depends on the context. Are we talking about “ancient Greece”? Much of that’s historical. Are we talking about “ancient continents?” Prehistoric.

Crazy Harry and his explodaphone.
Uncle Deadly and the rest of the “scary monster” muppets.
That trio that did the " Mah Nà Mah Nà" song.

I invite you to link to any public poll of mine that asks for info that you believe is too personal.

mmm

ETA: This is the latest one that affected you in this way:

I thought it was odd to publicly answer the question while asking why it was public.

May 2023 flushing habits. May 2023- giving up sex etc as an option. Jly 2023- do i have nieces and nephews? Aug 2023- how I met my SO. Sept 2023- Introvert or extravert? In 2023 you tried to ask what year were we born, but edited it out. Jan 2024- what’s your sign? I could go on. I admit, some of your most personal (out of 500! polls so far) are not public.

But 500 polls, most of which are public- why?

Why are they posting polls in the thread that’s made to post polls in?

Not just polls- so many polls.

Because it’s a thread for polls, and they are posting entertaining polls?

I live in a college town so I think we have a small edge in attractive and educated denizens. But there’s no way we can compete with Copenhagen or Oxford respectively.

I’m in Northern California, so lots of tech companies, and I think intelligent people tend to move here to work for said companies.
