Last year was the year I read more books, at least since I started recording them in Goodreads, with 137.
But last year was special because I was out of work for a month and finally clicked with Terry Pratchet and a couple other authors.
Usually I average about 7 books a month for yearly totals of about 100 books a year.
This year I’m behind on that mark having read only 51 books, probably because I struggled to find new books to read and increased consumption of social media due to the World Cup.
Now that the WC is over (and I don’t want to think about it much more) I’ll probably up my numbers but this year will probably end up in the bottom of the list by number of books read.
I would just assume it was one of the hundreds of Stones or Jagger solo songs released since c1972 that all sound the same to me. I can’t skip through the opening titles of Slow Horses fast enough. But play a new-to-me deep cut of their’s from the Sixties, and I ain’t getting out of the car until the song is done.

“There Wolf” used to be some sort of end-game password in the Might and Magic: World of Xeen PC games in the 90s.
I love some Stones, but the new one is meh to me. I guess it might be different if it came from a young band with little or no history, or at least someone I hadn’t already heard of, but I can’t help but listen to it in the context of these guys having produced Exile on Main Street and Let It Bleed. So, ya know, it can’t possibly measure up to that. It’s not fair, but there it is.
I got really excited for Hackney Diamonds which was a huge letdown. I won’t go out of my way to listen to Foreign Tongues, but I hope it’s surprisingly good.
I have no clear idea of how many books I read in a year. I don’t count them. I’m sure it’s more than 50, though.
For books read, I went with less than 50, more than 40. I’ll often sit and chain read (or more commonly, re-read) a book in a day. But spending time here (and it’s a lot) eats into my reading time. I’m also more likely to read various webnovel translations during my daily workout (30 minutes daily) or before bed. I find small, bite-sized sections better because when I’m really into a book, I don’t want to stop.
Or again, before bed, need things with good, natural breaks or it’s “Ooops, it’s 2 am again, I’m screwed.”
By pages/words read (not counting this place or other online news/information), it’s easily in the 50+ “books” range, just not always that format.

Yes. Me, too. Sometimes I’ll read an especially long book that requires concentration. It can take almost a week to read one like that because I read when I go to bed, so it’s not a lot of time at one time. If I’m reading shorter more frivolous books I can read three or more a week.
If I read more books, I’d have to spend less time on the SDMB. (or less time watching baseball).
I read 4 or 5 a year, typically on airplanes.
Books? About one every three weeks, but several times a year I’ll read through one in a couple days — like I just did yesterday with Fear and Fury, about Bernie Goetz.
Let’s see…that comes out to about 20 or 21 per year.
If the question is “Have I occasionally fed a pet using a regular plate or bowl?” then yes.
If the question is “Do I let my pets eat off my plate while I’m eating off it?”, then no. Although god knows they try.
The dog often gets to clean the plate before we put it in the dishwasher. Sometimes it’s very helpful, after messy meals.

I think this poll was inspired by the thread on gross things people do with food utensils (starts with a discussion about a woman caught on camera scratching her for with a fork.) So i figured that counted.
I don’t intentionally let them eat from my plate, but the cats are adept at getting at them when I take my eyes from them for one second.
My rats eat off the human plates mostly when they are getting medication. I mix the medicine with some mashed banana or baby food on a regular saucer and let them lick it off the saucer. For their everyday food, they have a dedicated bowl in their cage.
She may have helped clean a plate or bowl, in a first-stage sorta way before in-sink cleaning occurs
