Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 3)

A couple slices of Swiss or Muenster complement a tuna sandwich nicely. But I want nothing to do with tuna melts. If it came from a can it has to be at or below room temperature for me to eat it. My mother fed us too many tuna casseroles in the 70s and the idea of warm canned tuna disgusts me.

Mentally, for me, a tuna melt is a different beast from a tuna sandwich.

And now I want tunafish.

I find the idea of tuna with cheese so disgusting that I can hardly even read the discussion.

I have a stovetop percolator for use when the electricity is out, and that’s what a moka pot looked like when I googled it and saw a picture of one. Evidently it’s quite different - water on the bottom is steamed up through coffee grounds and deposited as drinkable coffee in a top chamber.

Yes, a tuna melt is in another category (but I do like them). A tuna sandwich for me defaults to tuna salad (ingredients vary by what I have on hand) on bread/roll/whatever. Added cheese will improve anything, but I only occasionally add it to tuna.

My lunch today has been decided by this thread. It’s going to be tuna salad - not a sandwich though - and I will definitely shred some swiss cheese into it.

I had a tuna pinwheel from the salad bar at lunch today. Otherwise I would also be hankering for tuna.

Regarding the gambling poll: I get that logically I’m only leaving the casino with $50 less than I came in with, but emotionally I think I I would feel like I’ve lost $5000, because I would be mad at myself for not quitting while I was ahead.

Regarding editing polls: In my experience you can edit posts that contain polls, and if you only edit the text of the post the poll doesn’t get reset. The poll only gets reset if you edit the actual poll itself.

It actually makes sense to me, since we shouldn’t want to allow someone to change the wording of their poll questions and/or answers after the fact to manipulate the appearance of the results.

Are you talking about my Congress poll? One of the reasons I put it in Politics & Elections was to avoid having discussions about it here, so I’m a little confused…?

Though to answer your question, my logic was that in the worst case scenario, your money would be effectively worthless, so that wouldn’t be a motivation to bet somewhere other than your sincere belief. (Although now that I think about it, it also straight up makes the option less attractive even if you DO believe it’ll happen… Hmmm.)

Oops, probably. If so, sorry about that.

I built the tuna poll because I have a sudden hankerin’ for a tuna sandwich. That will be my dinner tonight. I like it with cheese (cold, not hot sandwich) and I’m pondering whether that is considered barbaric.

What’s weird is that I’m sure it’s been well over a year since I’ve had tuna. The hankerin’ was totally random.

mmm

Did somebody say Hot Tuna?

Yes. This exactly.

I haven’t tried cheese with tuna so I answered other. The idea doesn’t sound
appealing tbh.

The only time I actively put cheese on a tuna sandwich is when I’m going to melt it. But if someone gave me a cold tuna and cheese sandwich, I’d cheerfully eat it.

Sharp cheddar or maybe gouda, preferably.

The only reason that poll didn’t make me want a tuna melt for lunch is that when I opened the poll I was already in the middle of eating something else which wouldn’t go well with tuna.

I don’t love cheese on my tuna sandwich, but it’s hardly barbaric. If someone served it to me, I’d eat it.

And i do enjoy a nice tuna noodle casserole, which isn’t very different from warm tuna sandwich with melted cheese.

I often eat club crackers with a slice of cheddar and a dollop of tuna salad. Yum!

Can’t remember the last time I had an actual tuna sandwich, but cheese is not contraindicated, hot or cold.

The SDMB is the closest thing to a journal that I have.

Since we’re discussing tuna, I’ll just add that canned tuna is one of the two or three foods that I just cannot eat in any form. Not in a sandwich, not in a casserole, not in any form. I like tuna sushi, or seared Ahi. But I will, not could not, eat from a can, not with a fan, canned tuna I cannot stand.

I do not care for hot tuna sandwiches or tuna casseroles. But I do enjoy a tuna salad sandwich.

Would you eat it in a box?
Would you eat it with a fox?

The gambling question: I’d consider myself to have lost $5,000. Even if I began with only $50, I ended up having $5,000 at one point, so that’s how much I lost at the end.
