I forget every time I link a poll from the poll thread to a discussion thread somewhere that this board still remains markedly balkanized, and the people responding in the poll thread simply and apparently don’t even know about the poll thread and it’s one overarching rule. Just like most of the board steers well clear of the Thread Games subforum.
It is in the title. But it’s true that some people following a link to a particular post don’t read the thread title.
Five follow-up polls because two people made an honest mistake and posted a comment in the thread? This isn’t some crisis that required a terms & conditions agreement. If that was a joke, it fell flat for me.
I took it as a joke. I don’t think anyone is truly bent out of shape over the “discussion” in the polls only thread.
I think the follow up polls had less to do with the comments than with the follow up polls themselves. I know mine did. I took the subsequent ones in the same vein.

Sometimes I wish that the Internet was still on computers only. Your phone was a phone, camera was a camera, music player (whether MP3, CD, or cassette) was a music player. People do still buy those items individually, but they are not required to if their phone can meet their needs.
At the same time, I wonder if it’s better for the environment that fewer devices are being made. Then again, some people have a “disposable” attitude toward phones and tablets, so new devices are made, along with new cases and accessories.
That’s where I toss my small mammal’s dirty clothes.

Mods, please rename this thread “Discussion Only”!
It’s understandable that people will occasionally accidently post discussion in the other thread. The joke poll response is getting a little stale. When you notice when it happens, maybe it would be good practice to politely PM the offender and suggest they edit their reply to a “Never mind” and repost in this thread.
