Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 3)

I work in customer service, in the travel industry. It was not possible for me to avoid the virus. But, I never got sick, and every time I was tested, the test came back negative.

I don’t think I’ve had covid, and so voted, but I could have had an asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic case and not known it. I have some of the symptoms for other reasons.

I’m definitely not qualified to be President; I’m partly faceblind, terrible at names, and if woken up abruptly at three in the morning it’s likely to take me an hour or more to be coherent, let alone able to make major decisions. And these days I haven’t the energy to do much in a day. I do however know all that and if stuck with the position would be hunting up sensible advisers like crazy. And the bar for “barely average” is a lot lower than it ought to be. I think whether I barely scraped into average or made the Worst list might depend on just what I had to deal with, especially on short notice.

As I’ve stated with other COVID polls, I’ve never tested positive for it. So I’ve never had it as far as I know. If I ever did it was a very mild case that I mistook for a common cold.

Election fraud- as in ineligible “Illegals” voting- is such a non-issue, that I dont want to go to a “Your papers please” government.

What little voter fraud does occur seems to be honest mistakes or cause by MAGA shenanigans.

Sure we always have a couple of guy who fill out their Mothers ballot after she dies and before the news gets to the whoever handles voter registration. But that is very small, and isnt “illegals”.

This is pure scare tactics, and why have an extra ID that i only need for voting- which i will put in a “safe place” then forget that it is there. (I did this for my passport once, found it months later).

I am currently on day 6 of my one and only case of COVID. I was very miserable for a few days but each of the last 2 days has better than the previous day. I’ve been taking paxlovid for the last 3 days. Nasty stuff, but I’d rather be safe than sorry, especially at my age.

I’m going to be conservative on voter ID. Genuinely conservative, that is. It wasn’t broke so we don’t need to fix it.

(I also suspect that if all those cards did magically appear, many of the people currently claiming to be conservatives would suddenly decide that we don’t need to make people show them at the polls, after all. Just to any masked goon on the street or in your kitchen, at any moment.)

Hmm. I really like tuna salad… When it’s made the way i like it, without too much mayo, and without nasty add-ins like raw onion. (A little bit of raw celery is good, though.) I’d never buy a tuna salad sight unseen.

The sandwich i make for myself most often is pb&j. That’s partly because we always have the ingredients, but partly it’s reliable.

And the ones I’m most likely to order if I’m buying a sandwich, or pick up at the corporate buffet, are ham and cheese or salami.

I guess I need more info to vote.

I voted tuna salad; but that’s tuna salad made the way I like it. Yes to raw onions, but no celery.

How long you have to wait for open spoilers depends on the context.

Ham and cheese sandwiches are one of my comfort foods.

For the record, the sandwich is prepared by you, as you like it.

(lookit me, quoting Shakespeare)

mmm

Of the sandwiches offered, pb&j. Of all sandwiches ever, a nice Reuben on swirly rye without those nasty little caraway seeds. And don’t put them in the sauerkraut, either.

Lucky man!

Every couple of years i get a jonesing for an Egg McMuffin so I get one…& immediately remember WHY I haven’t had one in a couple of years.

I like tuna salad, but if I have to pick a favorite then sliced turkey, with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard (I’m assuming lettuce and tomato count as common add-ons).

PB&J is my favorite, and it got my vote, but I gave up peanut butter as it is the closest thing I’ve had to an addiction since I stopped smoking in 1999.

Nowadays I eat a lot of ham and cheese sandwiches, and enjoy them a lot… but, you know, peanut butter.  :sparkling_heart: :heart_exclamation: :two_hearts:

Indeed.

Also indeed. Leave me alone with a jar of peanut butter and a spoon and, if a burglar were to break in, I’d be “just one sec…”

mmm

I voted for chicken salad, but I like salami just as much. I went with chicken salad because of the health factor.
Other strong faves are roast beef (yum!) and liverwurst (yum yum!) I would have had a hard time deciding if these were poll options.

I eat bologna and cheese three or four times a week. I say that with a slight sense of shame. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Bologna and cheese is my nostalgic favorite. From 7th to 9th grade I ate two bologna and cheese sandwiches for lunch virtually every single school day.

mmm

Right. I probably wouldn’t pick it over other sandwiches now but it’s still up on my list for nostalgia.

PB&J is a serviceable sandwich but will never come to mind as one of my favorites.

Ham and Swiss should be on rye but that’s not an option.

Turkey and provolone works well and is often my choice.

Salami isn’t a sandwich. It’s a component of a sandwich.

I like tuna, egg salad and chicken salad almost equally but there is a wide range in quality depending on how prepared. If they are all done correctly I would give egg the advantage.

A few weeks ago I dropped my watch off to get a new band put on and today I finally had the chance to pick it up. It’s all nice and shiny, plus the person set the time, date and moon phase, so I’m set until daylight saving time.

As long as I keep it wound - it’s an automatic. I also have a quartz watch, also analog, which I wear on vacation, especially if there will be salt water.
