Shoes are discarded based on usage / wear, not age.
Running shoes are retired from running after a preset # of miles, which is tracked for me by Garmin. After retirement from running they can become everyday shoes. All everyday (including work ones) are retired based on wear
I’ve seen about half of the Oscar nominees - probably more than most folks - and I still don’t feel qualified to tender a vote in many of the categories.
I voted yes for most of the old comedians (except Bob Hope), but TBH, although I remember laughing uproariously at their works, almost all my exposure to them came as a child, so I might feel differently now.
I was going to be a pedant and chile @Karen_Lingel’s use of “Myriad” as a noun, and pulled up Merriam-Webater as a cite, then discovered I waswrong mistaken. Not only can myriad be used as a noun, but noun usage came first!
Regarding hotel amenities, I have booked hotels without all of those things, (except air conditioning in areas where you’d expect it). I prefer a hotel with a restaurant and bar but can live without. Same with a fitness center, free wifi, etc. I like nice hotels, but nothing on that list would be a deal breaker.
I prefer a hotel with a bathtub, but these are increasingly difficult to find, and last time I booked a trip I was straight-up lied to by the hotel, which I did not appreciate. (When I checked in and was told no such room was available, I made a huge fuss. They offered me money off but I insisted on checking out and booking a more expensive hotel elsewhere, which I told them—I could have lived without it easily enough, but I really disliked being lied to, or rather, promised something in writing which was not in fact available.)
Unlike the other comics, Bob Hope’s style of acting was speaking his inner monologue out loud instead of showing it in his behavior. It’s a style of comedy that went out with radio shows
I need wifi & often A/C. Breakfast is nice. HBO or whatever is okay unless i am - for example going to Disneyland, etc, so all i really need is a good bed and a shower.
There a mostly forgotten baseball movie (made for HBO I think) called Soul of the Game. Delroy Lindo plays Satchel Paige. Blair Underwood is Jackie Robinson and Mykelti Williamson is Josh Gibson. A far superior movie to 42 which covers much of the same ground. The whole movie was great but Lindo in particular was a standout.
That’s quite possible. On a conscious level, it feels like I can compartmentalize fury, fear, and grief, and mostly be “life goes on” which is how I voted; but it may well be seeping through even when I think I’m not thinking about it.
And I don’t think any actual Luddites are using computers, so there aren’t any on these boards. Plus I can’t guarantee that I might not use AI sometime in my life. But I’m sure as hell not using it now, so that’s how I voted.
So I didn’t vote in that one. Either of those ones.
Our freezer is usually full, or nearly so; there’s no room for trash. If something stinky gets put into the kitchen garbage can, that garbage bag gets taken out to the big garbage can, in the alley, pretty much immediately.
My wife informs me that we have done that. On the other hand, I have come home to find a pig’s head and trotters staring out from the refrigerator, so anything goes here.
