Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 3)

Just looking thru photos from a event from last weekend last night; 1500 pics with all sorts of finger combos

  • Two fingers V up
  • Two fingers V 45° angle
  • Two fingers V sideways
  • Two fingers - Hook 'em horns / surfer (thumb & pinky)
  • Three fingers - thumb, index, & pinky

I don’t know thay the first one was specifically peace signs but there were plenty of 'em.

I was thinking of the printed peace sign. Mostly i see it on the “coexist” bumper sticker.

I see that somewhat often.

A few months ago I took this photo of this VW camper van with a peace sign in place of the VW emblem. I’m pretty sure I posted it in the “most interesting car you saw today” thread. I have seen that same van around town a few times since then, but those sightings were from farther away so I couldn’t actually make out the peace sign, although I knew it was there.

There’s an old VW Beetle which is regularly parked on the street, a block over from me. The owner has several hippie-ish stickers on the back of it, one of which is the peace sign.

Cool license plate too. “Not all those who vvander are lost.”

A godsend for those who need it: https://reliefband.com/

Makes it actually possible for me to take a bus.

There is no choice for me in the peace sign poll. That makes me so angry I could plotz. I have no idea when I may have seen it last.

Note that ginger has been shown to be just as effective vs motion sickness as the common OTC drug- without the weird side effects. So, pack some on your next sea voyage.

Sooo…I should travel with a redhead?

Always when driving a convertible thru Los Angeles, optional otherwise.

I get motion sick in certain circumstances. I wouldn’t call them extreme; but I don’t think I exactly fit in any of the other categories, either. I got seasick enough on an ocean cruise years ago to need medication, but that situation has only come up once in my life, and other times when I’ve been on boats I had no problem. I can’t read in a car or on a bus or I’ll get sick, but I don’t get sick in cars or on most buses if I don’t read.

Record Store Day is international, and I went to a store nearby and bought something on that day.

Unfortunately Independent Bookstore Day is limited to the U.S., so I would have had to travel quite a bit to visit a participating bookstore.

I’m not a fan of opera, but I have seen most of G&S’ works - does
that count, or is it more operetta/light opera ?

As the creator of that poll, it counts if you want it to. Or, you could put it into the Musical category. Or, “other.”

I loathe opera. But I needed a music class for my degree, and the only thing offered that semester was…ugh. So unfortunately, “Opera” is a category I can usually run on Jeopardy!

I have gotten woozy (but not full on motion sick) from mowing around the tree that used to be in our front lawn. I had to walk slowly around the tree, or else I’d get dizzy. And the last time I went on a party boat (fishing, not partying), I barfed six times. The crew called it a calm day.

I only call two of those spatulas. But there are other things that I call spatulas, too, like:

A spatula I use to put frosting on cakes:

A spatula I never found a use for, and eventually removed from my utensil drawer:

A spatula that my BIL bought us when he took the one his mom had, as her kids split up for stuff:

Ours is a little different, but has basically the same blade. I use it for cooking meat, for mixing up veggies cooking in a tray, for flipping eggs, for basically everything involving heat. It’s replaced most of my other flat scrapey spatulas.

That other thing in picture one is called a bench knife.

I will take a run over to Spatula City and check out their assortment.

Oh, i guess when i need to spackle, i use a smaller tool that i call a spatula, too.
